November 5, 2020
Good morning
Welcome to today's top news.
Leading the News . . .
This race is not over yet . . . President Trump still has a chance to win reelection. That’s because he still could win in Arizona, despite the calls by AP and Fox News of the state for Joe Biden.
Here’s how AP explained its call: "The AP called the race at 2:50 a.m. EST Wednesday, after an analysis of ballots cast statewide concluded there were not enough outstanding to allow Trump to catch up. With 80% of the expected vote counted, Biden was ahead by 5 points, with a roughly 130,000-vote lead over Trump with about
2.6 million ballots counted. The remaining ballots left to be counted, including mail-in votes in Maricopa County, where Biden performed strongly, were not enough for Trump to catch up to the former vice president." Ohhhhkay. I’m looking at the CNN live election results map — even
if you don’t like CNN, check it out, it’s great — at 7:45 pm ET November 4. It says that 82% of the vote has now been counted, and that Trump is down by about 93,000 votes and about 3.5 percentage points. Now that is quite a change, isn’t it? White House Dossier

New item on your medical bill: "Covid fee" . . . The coronavirus pandemic has made the practice of health care more costly as providers must wear protective gear and sanitize equipment more often, even as they face declining revenue. Two groups of providers have been particularly hard hit. Dentists have lost billions since patients began postponing nonurgent dental care this spring. And assisted living facilities, grappling with lower overall
demand, have also been forced to admit fewer residents to help stop the spread of infection To address this financial shortfall, some health providers are turning directly to patients. Surprise “Covid” and “PPE” fees have turned up across the country. New York Times

Supreme Court orders Pennsylvania Democrats to respond in ballot dispute . . . The Supreme Court ordered Pennsylvania Democrats to respond by Thursday evening in a case challenging the state’s three-day extension for counting mail-in ballots. President Trump has moved to intervene
in a lawsuit brought by Pennsylvania Republicans, arguing the state’s Democratic Party and Secretary of State violated the law by extending the time for counting mail-in ballots to Nov. 6 at 5 p.m., despite the state legislature setting the deadline as Election Day. The lawsuit takes issue with a state Supreme Court ruling that postmarked ballots be presumed to have been mailed before Nov. 3, even if not clearly postmarked to that effect. Washington Times

After four years of non-stop outreach to Miami’s Cuban exile community, Trump cruised to victory in Florida thanks to their heavy turnout that also helped the GOP flip two congressional seats and win big in state House and Senate races. “Trump did a really
good job of staying on message with the socialist, socialist, socialist thing. Florida Democrats did not do a good job combating this.
