Florida sets one-day record with more than 15,000 new Covid cases . . . Florida reported a record increase of more than 15,000 new cases of COVID-19 in 24 hours on Sunday, as the Trump administration renewed its push for schools to reopen and anti-mask protests were planned in Michigan and Missouri. If Florida were a country, it would rank fourth in the world for the most new cases in a day behind the United States, Brazil and India, according to a
Reuters analysis. Florida’s daily increases in cases have already surpassed the highest daily tally reported by any European country during the height of the pandemic there. It has also broken New York state’s record of 12,847 new cases on April 10 when it was the epicenter of the U.S. outbreak. Reuters
New York City reports zero coronavirus deaths . . . New York City, once the epicenter of the nation’s coronavirus outbreak, has just reported its first day with zero confirmed or probable virus deaths since the pandemic hit New York State. The milestone came Sunday.
It marked the end of a four-month stretch since the city reported its first Covid-19 fatality on March 11. The confirmed daily death count hit its height on April 7 at 597. Another 216 people were reported likely to have died from the virus despite no positive laboratory tests that day. Bloomberg
White House seeks to discredit Fauci . . . The White House is seeking to discredit Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country's leading infectious disease expert, as President Donald Trump works to marginalize him and his dire warnings about the shortcomings of the U.S. coronavirus response. A White House official said Sunday that "several White House officials are concerned about the number of times Dr. Fauci has been
wrong on things." The official gave NBC News a list of nearly a dozen past comments by Fauci that the official said had ultimately proven erroneous. Among them: Fauci's comments in January that the coronavirus was "not a major threat" and his guidance in March that "people should not be walking around with masks." NBC News

Immunity to Covid-19 may be lost in just a few months . . . New research suggests that, like the common cold and flu, the virus could infect people on an annual basis. This undermines ideas that herd immunity could be a way of defeating the virus. King’s College London scientists looked at the immune response of more than 90 patients and healthcare workers at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS foundation trust. They found antibody
levels peaked three weeks after symptoms and then declined. Daily Mail

Trump threatens to end tax-exempt status for schools teaching leftism . . . President Trump threatened to end taxpayer subsidizing of leftist indoctrination at universities and school systems. Only Trump would do this. Not Bush, not Rubio, not any of them. That’s why he won the Republican primaries. Because people know he will take actual measures, beyond whining, to take back our culture. Universities especially have no God-given right to
federal funds. And if they want its money, the federal government has a right to say, don’t teach young people to tear down the system that is paying for their education. White House Dossier

AOC defends NYC crime spike, saying that people don't have money . . . Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has suggested the rise in crime in New York City is because 'desperate' people are 'stealing bread to feed their children'. The Democrat, speaking during a
virtual town hall last Thursday, was commenting on plans to defund the police. Police data shows that shootings in the city last month were up 130 per cent year on the year - from 89 shootings last year to 205 this year. But Cortez asked: 'Do we think this has to do with the fact that there’s record unemployment in the United States right now? Daily Mail
It makes sense. If you don't have money, what you do is, see, you take other peoples money. Because, like, they have it, and you don't. So if you take it, then YOU have the money, and you're good. Also: You shoot people. Man, she is dumb, but dangerous.

Polish President Duda wins reelection . . . Polish President Andrzej Duda has won five more years in power on a deeply conservative platform after a closely fought election that is likely to deepen the country’s isolation in the European Union. Nearly final results from Sunday’s presidential election put him on more than 51%, giving him an unassailable lead over Warsaw mayor Rafal Trzaskowski, who won almost 49% of the
votes. Duda is allied with the ruling nationalist Law and Justice party, and his victory will give the government a new mandate to pursue reforms of the judiciary and media which the executive European Commission says subvert democratic standards. Reuters
