The woman who accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of attempting to rape her in the early 1980s is named
Christine Blasey Ford, and she has given her story to the Washington Post.
So far, there is no corroboration of the story at all, other than that she told people about it many years later.
But this is a problem for Kavanaugh. Two of the votes he needs, GOP Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, are women who now have an added reason to vote "no" beyond the pressure they're already under. I would expect hearings like
the ones some of you may remember regarding Anita Hill's accusations against Clarence Thomas. Especially given the current climate.
