The Patriot Act Wasn’t Meant to Target Parents . . . As principal author of the Patriot Act and chairman of the House Judiciary Committee during its consideration, I find it necessary to remind the Biden administration that the Patriot Act doesn’t apply to parents’ behavior at school-board meetings. In recent months, parents across the country have expressed their views on issues ranging from pronoun selection and Critical Race
Theory to the medical basis of certain Covid restrictions and age-inappropriate, sexually explicit curricular materials.
Parents have a right—indeed an obligation—to participate actively at school-board meetings to ensure the safety and well-being of their children. In Virginia’s Loudoun and Fairfax counties, moms, dads, and teachers shocked by X-rated reading lists, race-based indoctrination, and anti-Christian instruction have made their voices heard. Rather than embracing a renaissance of spirited and nonviolent civic engagement, Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe recently said: “I don’t
think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.” Democrats’ hostility toward parents seeking a voice in their children’s education is not new. Of greater concern is the recent attempt to weaponize our criminal laws to eliminate these voices. Wall Street

Soviet Playbook. Putin does the same thing, when he applies Russia's counter-terrorism laws agains political opposition.
This is what my next book will be about. Working title: Soviet Playbook: Socialism in America is giving me flashbacks to the Russia I fled.
On Its 246th Birthday, the Navy Continues to Innovate . . . As the U.S. Navy celebrates its 246th birthday on Oct. 13, it is an apt time to reflect on its accomplishments of the past year. Judging by those accomplishments, innovation should be the theme of the Navy’s 245th year. Just like wireless radio and nuclear-powered technologies, reliable unmanned warships are on the cusp of becoming a game-changer at sea. More quickly produced
reliable unmanned warships can help counter China’s rapidly growing naval fleet. Daily Signal

Odds-on favorite: Bookmakers like Trump over Biden . . . And unlike last time, in 2024, President Biden will actually have to go out and campaign. The contrast between his events and Trump’s will be impossible to miss. So place your bets! Two major oddsmakers have a new favorite to win the 2024 presidential election — former President Donald Trump. According to an account in Newsweek, both BetOnline and Betfred have installed
the Republican as the betting choice over President Biden, albeit only slightly. Panama-based BetOnline is now offering 11-4 odds on Mr. Trump winning (meaning a winning $4 bet will get you $11, plus your money back), compared to 13-4 on a Biden victory. White House Dossier
Pelosi Says Media Should Do Better Job Selling Dem Agenda . . . Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) told the media that "you all could do a better job of selling" her party's $3.5 trillion budget plan. A reporter asked Pelosi at a Tuesday press briefing if Democrats "need to do a better job at messaging" on their controversial spending package, a crucial part of President Joe Biden's domestic agenda. "Well, I think you all
could do a better job of selling it, to be very frank with you," Pelosi responded. The speaker's apparent expectation that journalists should advance Democrats' agenda comes as 63 percent of Americans say they have little or no trust in the media. Washington Free Beacon
Frightened Virginia governor candidate McAuliffe calls on Obama for a rescue . . . The Democrats thought they had Virginia all locked up as a blue state, but the polls in the gubernatorial race between former Gov. Terry McAuliffe and Republican Glenn Youngkin are just about even. So McAuliffe has called in Barack Obama, who will appear in Richmond Saturday. Not clear if he is going to drive more Republicans than Democrats to vote, but
McAuliffe thinks it’s worth the chance. And McAuliffe desperately needs high black turnout, so he is also calling in Stacey Abrams, who on Sunday will lead a “souls to the polls” drive. White House Dossier
Virginia Mother Who Survived Mao’s Cultural Revolution Sees Parallels in America . . . The communist political movement that devastated China decades ago is unfolding in America, warned Xi Van Fleet, a parent-turned-activist who made national headlines after speaking out against critical race theory (CRT) at a school board meeting. “When the Cultural Revolution started, I was a first grader,” the Virginia mother told EpochTV’s “American
Thought Leaders.” She said that all classes ceased at schools and colleges as older students proclaimed themselves Mao Zedong’s Red Guards. Emboldened by Mao’s slogan “To Rebel is Justified,” the Red Guards did not hesitate to instigate violence and destruction on everyone and everything they considered “counter-revolutionary.” Epoch Times
Soviet Playbook. Millions of us, immigrants are horrified, watching America being transformed into a socialist totalitarian regime, the kind that many of us fled. Only a handful of our voices reach the headlines though. Most immigrants don't have a platform to make their voices heard or are afraid to speak out, for the fear of loosing a job or being cancelled, exactly as we were afraid to speak the truth in our birth countries. Think about that and take that in please.

Protecting Taiwan’s Independence Without War . . . One of the reatest national security challenges threatening America is the danger of a war with Communist China over Taiwan.
After President Joe Biden’s disastrous surrender to the Taliban in Afghanistan – in which he didn’t consult or even inform our allies – the importance of supporting Taiwan’s independence is greater than ever. America’s failure to keep our 42-year public commitment to Taiwan would be devastating. It would shatter America’s reputation as a reliable nation, and countries around the world would become more likely to accommodate the Chinese Communist Party. Our entire global alliance system
would collapse. The shift to a Communist China-dominated international system would be immediate. Gingrich360
Biden shuts down CIA’s Iran Div. Tehran: Operations transferred to Mossad . . . President Joe Biden is reported by US intelligence sources on Tuesday as having ordered the shutdown of the CIA’s Iranian division, without explanation. While Western sources ascribe the step to a gesture of appeasement for Tehran, the Iranian media slam the step as “a tactical move” by the US to “apply more pressure” on Iran as part of “covert and overt” changes
in its approach to the region. Conservative Iranian publications editorially accuse Washington of an intention “to use the capacities and capabilities of other intelligence and security bodies, particularly, the Mossad, against Iran.” DEBKAfile
Havana Syndrome Hits at Least Five U.S. Families Connected to Embassy in Colombia . . . At least five American families connected to the bustling U.S. Embassy in Colombia have been afflicted with the mysterious neurological ailment known as Havana Syndrome, in the latest attack against American diplomatic installations, people familiar with the matter said. In emails to embassy personnel, sent by Ambassador Philip Goldberg and others and
reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, the State Department vowed to address the issue “seriously, with objectivity and with sensitivity,” as they work to determine the scope of the afflictions in one of the U.S.’s most important diplomatic outposts. The sprawling embassy, one of the largest the U.S. operates in the world, is a target-rich installation of intelligence agents and anti-narcotics operatives, in addition to the usual complement of aid and development workers and
diplomats. The developments come days before Secretary of State Antony Blinken is expected to visit. Wall Street Journal
Marine Officer Who Criticized Leadership Over Afghanistan Withdrawal to Plead Guilty as Part of Plea Deal . . . A Marine Officer who faces trial by court-martial on Oct. 14 for criticizing senior military officials over the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan is set to plead guilty to several charges, his lawyers said. Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller has been charged with contempt toward officials, disrespect toward superior commissioned officers,
willfully disobeying a superior commissioned officer, dereliction in the performance of duties, failure to obey an order or regulation, and conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman. Scheller will allegedly plead guilty to some charges in the hopes of avoiding a prison sentence and secure instead either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions. The Epoch Times
Soviet Playbook again. Pentagon's systemic retaliation against those who speak truth to power undermine our national security and endanger Americans.

White House to host global anti-ransomware meeting; Russia not invited . . . President Biden is hosting virtual meetings this week with more than 30 countries to "accelerate cooperation to counter ransomware," but the White House did not extend the invitation to Russia, senior administration officials said, noting that United States and the Kremlin have a "separate channel" where they "actively" discuss the matter.
Senior administration officials said the president’s meetings on Wednesday and Thursday are intended to build upon U.S. leadership in rallying allies and partners to address ransomware threats around the globe, which officials said have been increasing in "scale, sophistication and frequency" and have victimized governments, individuals and private companies around the globe. Fox News
There's really no point in inviting Russia to these talks. Putin uses cyber warfare, as a matter of statecraft instrument, to destabilize societies and brainwash populations. Nothing will convince the Kremlin to change its strategy because Moscow believes it has worked well for Russia.
Taliban Allow Teenage Afghan Girls Back in Some Provincial Schools—but Not in Kabul . . . The Taliban have allowed middle- and high-school girls to resume studies in several provinces of northern Afghanistan, in an indication of how the Islamist group’s policies on key issues are being influenced by cultural differences within the country. In September, the Taliban reopened secondary schools for male students across Afghanistan but said
nothing about their female peers. That amounted to a de facto ban on girls going to school after sixth grade. Elementary schools have reopened for all, with boys and girls being taught separately. Wall Street Journal

Gas prices at 7-year high and rising as Biden wages offensive against domestic energy producers . . . "Average gas price: June 2020: $2.21 June 2021: $3.07 President Biden's economy!" Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) tweeted during the summer. "You forgot to mention that gas prices are the same now as they were in June 2018," White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki fired back. "Or that this time last year unemployment was 11.1% — today it's 5.8%.
@POTUS agrees families shouldn't pay more at the pump — that's why he's opposed to GOP proposals to raise the gas tax." Yet, the Democrats' $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation bill reportedly includes an estimated $6 billion worth of charges on U.S. oil and gas operators on federal lands, which could effectively put mom and pop small business, and minority and Native-owned operations out of business, in addition to killing tens of thousands of jobs. Drivers wanted: U.S. supply chain can’t keep on trucking . . . The nation’s trucking industry is facing significant headwinds in dealing with a massive shortage of drivers — just one of the factors contributing to a supply chain bottleneck that is driving up prices and threatening to put a crimp in Christmas shopping.
The trucker shortage, which the industry has warned of since at least the 1980s, has reached critical mass with the help of COVID-19 shutdowns that triggered widespread layoffs and temporarily closed state DMVs and truck driver training schools that serve as the new-driver pipeline. “Currently, 20% to 25% of all truck drivers are still missing,” said Mike Kucharski, head of JKC Trucking, an Illinois-based company that specializes in shipping food. “JKC has trucks that desperately need
drivers behind the wheel that are parked.” Washington Times

One year later, The Post’s Hunter Biden reporting is vindicated — but still buried . . . “Hacked materials.” “Russian disinformation.” “Unsubstantiated.” One year ago, The Post revealed that Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop carried proof he sold influence while his father served as vice president — and his dad, now president, knew it. Yet most other media treated the story itself as the scandal, reporting only on vague
claims that sought to undermine it rather than rushing (as they would’ve under the last president) to advance it themselves. And Twitter and Facebook rushed to block it, squelching vital information even as America voted. None of them has learned any lesson except that it worked: Big Tech and Big Media got their way, at the expense of our democracy. In short: They got away with it. All of them. From the Bidens, to social-media companies, to the press. New York Post
Loudoun County parents demand superintendent resign over alleged sexual assaults in schools . . . More than 60 concerned parents, students and residents spoke at the Loudoun County School Board meeting Tuesday evening, with many demanding the resignation of Loudoun County Superintendent Scott Ziegler in the wake of allegations that the school district covered up two alleged sexual assaults. Parents attended the school board meeting with
signs urging Ziegler to resign. "This is not China, this is the United States of America, and we will not be silenced," one irate mother said. "Remove the superintendent immediately and then resign for your negligence and duplicity. End this nightmare!" Fox News
They banned the Post, but Twitter didn’t take these tweets down . . . When Twitter banned the New York Post one year ago, it was clear from the start that the decision was arbitrary, hypocritical — and political. The Post asked our friends at Twitchy.com, a site dedicated to chronicling the worst of Twitter, to help collect some examples of things the service didn’t ban. Go after a Democratic politician and you’re flagged. But call for a
Republican to die, and everything’s fine: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei still gets to incite, such as calling for the deaths of American politicians. New York Post
Soviet Playbook. USSR and now Russia also applied double standards: one for the ruling class, the Communists, and the other for everyone else.
