Biden to go relax on vacation as crises erupt all around him . . . President Joe Biden departed the White House for a vacation in Wilmington, Delaware as multiple crises escalated Thursday, most notably the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan that has forced the Pentagon to send troops to the country in a desperate attempt to help Americans there escape. The Pentagon announced Thursday that the military is sending two Marine
and one Army infantry battalion, roughly 3,000 troops, to Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul in an effort to provide security for embassy personnel and other Americans trying to evacuate the country. An additional 3,500 troops out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina will deploy to Kuwait as a stand-by force in case needed. White House Dossier
US-Mexico July border crossings hit 20 year high . . . Attempted crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border surpassed 200,000 in one month for the first time in more than two decades, according to July data released by the government Thursday. More than 212,000 people attempted to cross the border in July, a 13 percent increase from June and the largest single month figure since 2000, when 223,305 attempted to cross the border.
The swelling figures show migrants have not put off journeys due to the summer heat as the Biden administration hoped. The Hill
Obama’s Martha’s Vineyard Birthday Bash a Super Spreader Event . . . Former president Barack Obama shrugged off the concerns of scientific experts by throwing himself a massive 60th birthday party at his $17.5 million estate on Martha's Vineyard this past weekend. As usual, the scientific experts were correct: The star-studded affair was a confirmed "super spreader" event, putting countless lives at risk and further cementing Obama's
reputation as a narcissistic war criminal. According to data compiled by the New York Times, COVID-19 infections in Dukes County, Mass., which contains Martha's Vineyard, have spiked in the days since Obama's selfish display of clout. Cases have increased 1,829 percent over the last two weeks, while hospitalizations have jumped 157 percent. Martha's Vineyard and other vacation locales frequented by the Liberal Élite have become COVID-19 hotspots. Celebs, journalists, and other
left-wing activists have been driving the national infection rate higher, putting countless lives at risk. Obama's self-obsessed stubbornness in the face of a deadly pandemic further vindicates his critics who have long argued that the only reason he wanted to become president was to hang out with famous people. Mission accomplished. Washington Free

Soviet Playbook: elites are forcing everyone else to obey the rules they don't follow themselves.
I have no issue with Obama throwing a mega-birthday bash for himself and his buddies, during the pandemic. In fact, let all the leftist radicals go to one place and party away -- the more of them, the better. But don't be telling everyone else who would like to have a wedding and another life-event that they are not allowed to do so. Let the individuals make those decisions. Government control of individuals' lives is un-American. It is
Sovietesque.
A tale of two chambers: Trump's power holds in House, wanes in Senate . . . The infrastructure debate dominating Capitol Hill this summer is highlighting the sharp contrast between the chambers when it comes to the influence of former President Trump over the GOP. Nearly 20 Senate Republicans, including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.), broke with Trump this week to support a massive infrastructure package, providing President Biden
with a big win and reflecting the diminishing hold his predecessor has on the upper chamber. But the story is likely to be much different in the House, where Trump retains a muscular grip and GOP leaders have deemed his support vital to both the party’s prospects of winning back the chamber, and their individual aspirations for rising in the leadership ranks. Supreme Court Does Not Block Indiana University’s Vaccine Requirement . . . Justice Amy Coney Barrett rejected a challenge brought to the Supreme Court on Thursday contesting Indiana University’s requirement that students receive the COVID-19 vaccine in order to attend classes in the fall semester.
A group of eight Indiana University students asked the court to issue an emergency order blocking the school’s requirement, arguing their objection to getting the vaccine is “based on legitimate concerns,” including pre-existing medical conditions and potential risks associated with the vaccine. “Protection of others does not relieve our society from the central canon of medical ethics requiring voluntary and informed consent,” the students’ attorneys wrote in an emergency petition
filed with the court. Barrett, who has jurisdiction over emergency appeals brought from Indiana, made the decision to block the challenge unilaterally and without referring the matter to the full court. It was the first time the nation’s highest court was asked to weigh in on the legality of a vaccine requirement. Daily Caller

Trump meeting with potential challengers in bid to oust Liz Cheney . . . Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., was one of ten House Republicans to vote to impeach Donald Trump in January, and she’s has become the symbol of Republican opposition to the former president. Trump wants payback and is hoping the pare down the field to one candidate who, with his backing, can defeat Cheney in the primary next year. Trump is expected to meet Thursday
with a new potential challenger to Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, his Republican nemesis in the House. Trump is poised to sit down with Harriet Hageman, a Republican trial attorney who waged an unsuccessful 2018 campaign for governor of Wyoming, according to five people familiar with the matter. The meeting comes as Trump ramps up his effort to unseat Cheney in next year’s GOP primary. White House Dossier
Democrats stick with Kamala Harris despite poll slump and staff turmoil . . . Vice President Kamala Harris has experienced highs and lows during her first year as President Joe Biden's understudy, with some voters failing to warm to her. A historic decision to select a minority woman to be his second in command has been overshadowed, at times, by her missteps.
Democratic strategist Mike Nellis, a senior adviser to Harris during the primary, was adamant Democrats were not suffering from buyers' remorse. "Joe Biden said it himself — Democrats couldn't have asked for a better vice president than Kamala Harris," Nellis said. "The Biden-Harris administration is successfully cleaning up the mess Trump created, whether the media or the Republicans want to admit it or not." Washington Examiner

US begging Taliban not to burn down our embassy . . . President Biden wants to Make America Mediocre Again. American negotiators are trying to extract assurances from the Taliban that they will not attack the U.S. Embassy in Kabul if the extremist group takes over the country’s government and ever wants to receive foreign aid, three American officials said. The effort, led by Zalmay Khalilzad, the chief American envoy in talks with
the Taliban, seeks to stave off a full evacuation of the embassy as they rapidly seize cities across Afghanistan. On Thursday, the State Department announced it was sending home an unspecified number of the 1,400 Americans stationed at the embassy and drawing down to what the agency’s spokesman, Ned Price, described as a “core diplomatic presence” in Kabul.
As if the Taliban cared about American foreign aid. They’ll get it from China and Russia. White House Dossier
White House Gives in to Liberal Push to Stall Nuclear Modernization . . . After a push from far-left senators, the Biden administration is delaying the modernization of America's nuclear weapons stockpile. The White House is ordering the Department of Defense to explore extending the lifespan of America’s land-based nuclear arsenal. Some Democrats have pushed the administration away from modernization, citing cost and concerns that it
would escalate global tensions. But military leaders are calling for nuclear modernization to counter efforts from Russia and China. Admiral Charles Richard, head of Strategic Command, said China's nuclear arms are expanding at a "breathtaking" rate. Commercial satellite images released in July show the construction of two massive nuclear silo fields in the Chinese desert. Russia is constructing the heaviest ballistic missile in the world, which could enter service as early as 2022. Washington Free Beacon
The leftists seem to have plenty of money to transform the military into a woke spineless contingent, sponsor transgender craze and to push other nonsense, unrelated to our war fighting capability. Biden is making Americans less safe.
Obama lied when he told Americans he was ending Afghanistan war: Book . . .Obama? Lie? Could it be? Barack Obama told an American public skeptical of the war that we were done, when he knew that was far from the truth. The book, “The Afghanistan Papers: A Secret History of the War,” is being excerpted in the Washington Post: President Barack Obama had promised to end the war, so on Dec. 28, 2014, U.S. and NATO officials held a ceremony at
their headquarters in Kabul to mark the occasion . . . In a statement, Obama called the day “a milestone for our country” and said the United States was safer and more secure after 13 years of war . . . In fact, the war was nowhere near a conclusion, “responsible” or otherwise, and U.S. troops would fight and die in combat in Afghanistan for many years to come. The baldfaced claims to the contrary ranked among the most egregious deceptions and lies that U.S. leaders spread during two
decades of warfare. White House Dossier
A 21st century digital Cold War with China and Russia . . . The Chinese and Russian attacks will not abate anytime soon. There are no internationally recognized norms for conduct in cyberspace, and thus far the U.S. has been unable effectively to find and stop the rampant criminal hacking online. The U.S. private sector is on the hook to fend for itself. Collecting intelligence is all about detecting hints and warnings to preempt threats
before they are visited on our shores. Private-sector cybersecurity teams should seize the moment to improve their tools and processes. Defense-centric security models — where the onus is always on the defenders manually to respond to the attackers’ tactics — must evolve by extending the “secure perimeter” and forcing attackers to operate on the defender’s terms. As my CIA and military colleagues used to say, it’s all about taking the fight to the enemy. Analysis. Washington Times

UK defense secretary warns Afghanistan at risk of becoming a ‘failed state’ . . . Britain’s defence secretary has warned that Afghanistan risks descending into civil war and becoming a failed state as the Taliban captures large cities and gains ground in the wake of the hasty US troop withdrawal.
The Islamist militia is now in control of Kandahar, Afghanistan’s second-biggest city, and Lashkar Gah in Helmand province after weeks of fierce fighting. The insurgents now control at least 14 of Afghanistan’s 34 provincial capitals, and are encircling Kabul in an effort to topple President Ashraf Ghani’s weakened government. Ben Wallace said he believed Afghanistan could once again become a haven for international terrorists such as al-Qaeda, whose presence in the country prompted
the US-led invasion to oust the Taliban from power almost 20 years ago. Financial Times
Cuba fallout threatens Biden's prospects in Florida . . . Political strategists are warning that President Biden risks losing Florida again in 2024 if he doesn’t step up his response to Cuba following this summer’s historic protests on the communist island.
Biden has met with Cuban American leaders, instituted harsher sanctions on the Cuban government, and is now exploring ways to possibly restore internet access in Cuba, but experts say he still risks losing ground to Republicans on the issue. Cuban Americans, many of whom turned out for former President Trump in November, are entering their fifth week of protests in Florida to voice their opposition to the government in Havana. If Biden wants to win them over three years from now,
strategists say, he will need to take a different approach toward Cuba. The Hill

Job Postings Requiring Covid-19 Vaccination Jump in Past Month . . . Many of the postings don’t explicitly name Covid-19 as the vaccine required for employment, said Indeed economist AnnElizabeth Konkel, who wrote the report, but broader context of the job descriptions suggested most employers were referring to the coronavirus vaccine, as opposed to other shots. Early this year, before Covid-19 vaccines were widely available
in the U.S., very few job postings outside of healthcare positions indicated a vaccination requirement, she said. “While the number of postings requiring a vaccine is still low, it’s a trend that’s really taking off,” Ms. Konkel said. “I think a growing number of employers are trying to keep workers safe and do not want to shut down again this winter....They see vaccines as the way out of this pandemic.” Fox Business
Nurses flee hospitals for high-paid travel jobs after year of COVID care . . . The nationwide shortage of nurses has been made worse by the stress of treating severely ill COVID-19 patients for over a year, prompting many nurses to seek flexible, higher-paid positions through staffing agencies. “There are so many other opportunities that exist for nurses that are outside of a very grueling and demanding 24/7 hospital environment,” said
Florida Hospital Association President Mary Mayhew. “On top of that, we have lost nurses to staffing agencies where these nurses are traveling around the country at substantially higher compensation.” The demand for travel nurses skyrocketed last year at the onset of the pandemic in the United States when hospitals, unprepared for the magnitude of the coming crisis, struggled to keep up with the number of admitted patients. Hospitals are estimated to have lost about 30% of their nursing
staff to more lucrative travel jobs. Washington Examiner
Shocking. Why should nurses act irrationally?

Pfizer, Moderna seen reaping billions from COVID-19 vaccine booster market . . . Drugmakers Pfizer Inc, BioNTech and Moderna Inc are expected to reap billions of dollars from COVID-19 booster shots in a market that could rival the $6 billion in annual sales for flu vaccines for years to come, analysts and healthcare investors say. For several months, the companies have said they expect that fully inoculated people will need an extra dose
of their vaccines to maintain protection over time and to fend off new coronavirus variants. Now a growing list of governments, including Chile, Germany and Israel, have decided to offer booster doses to older citizens or people with weak immune systems in the face of the fast-spreading Delta variant. Reuters
FDA greenlights COVID-19 booster vaccine for some immunocompromised patients . . . Wendy’s plans to open 700 delivery-only kitchens by 2025 to meet the growing demand from people who want their fast food brought to them.
The kitchens will primarily operate in urban neighborhoods in the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom, Wendy’s said. The hamburger chain will open its first 50 delivery kitchens this year.
Dublin, Ohio-based Wendy’s is partnering with Reef Technology Inc., a Miami company that runs 5,000 delivery kitchens in 30 cities worldwide. Fox Business

Trump Was Right, Biden Was Wrong | Second Amendment . . . The Second Amendment is a right guaranteed to all Americans. The ability to keep and bear arms is under attack by the Biden administration’s harmful policies and legislation.
Since the kick-off of his campaign in spring 2019, Joe Biden has made it his chief priority to strip Americans of their right to defend themselves. In an executive order this spring, President Joe Biden ordered the Justice Department to make a ruling on the use of pistol stabilizing braces. Pistol braces are often used by American veterans and individuals with physical disabilities. Biden’s executive order criminalizes law-abiding Americans who are trying to use their weapons safely. This ruling
would reclassify many pistols and handguns as short-barreled rifles, requiring a license. Biden’s attack on guns is wrongfully punishing law-abiding gun owners, making every day Americans feel like criminals. Gingrich360
Parent Rebels as Elementary School Creates ‘Black Classes’ . . . Kira Posey filed a complaint to the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights after learning her child and 11 other black students were placed into “black classes” at the Mary Lin Elementary School in Atlanta, Posey’s lawyer Sharese Shields said. Last spring, the school’s principal, Sharyn Briscoe, put the segregation policy in place, arguing the decision was
beneficial to all students, as the school consists predominantly of white students in a majority white school district. Daily Signal

Number of white people declines for first time — and other census data takeaways . . . Detailed census data released Thursday revealed a more diverse country with the first recorded decline in the white population, as well as the slowest population growth in the country overall since the 1930s. States will use the population information to redraw congressional and state legislative district lines, potentially giving Republicans an edge in
House districts that favor them ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. Democrats, too, hope to use the data to their advantage. The number of White people population decreases for the first time.cThe number of people who identify as white alone declined from 223.6 million in 2010 to 204.3 million in 2020, marking an 8.6% decline. It is the first time the category saw a drop in the nation’s history and was also the only race category to see a population decline. Washington Examiner
DEA Officials Directed To Stop Saying ‘Mexican Cartel’. . . Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officials have been instructed to “avoid saying ‘Mexican cartel’ or discussing the Mexican government, or LE cooperation with Mexico” when speaking with the media, according to an internal email exclusively obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation. The reason for the shift in messaging is unclear, but comes as Mexican drug cartels
continue to surge drugs across the southern border and adopt more advanced manufacturing and trafficking tactics. A portion of the email sent mid-July stated: “Also, we need to now avoid saying ‘Mexican cartel’ or discussing the Mexican government or LE cooperation with Mexico. Please continue using ‘drug cartel,’ TCO, DTO, etc.” Daily Caller

Biden Says He Is 'Checking' Whether Constitution Allows Him To Seize Means Of Production . . . During a press briefing Tuesday, President Biden said he was "checking" whether or not the Constitution allowed him to seize the means of production and turn the United States into a Communist, one-party state.
"I'm checking on that," he said after a reporter asked him if he was going to nationalize every industry and seize total control of the country, establishing himself as a dictator to lead the nation into a glorious Communist utopia. "I'll have to see with the, you know, the thing, whether it allows me to do that. I'll have my aide people look into it.
Amy, she's one of my staffers, she's great. Fantastic hair. Uses this nice peach shampoo on it. Wish all the chicks around here would do that." He was then pulled off the podium by a shepherd's crook. At publishing time, Biden had issued a statement saying he would "probably just go ahead and seize the means of production" and that the courts would have to strike it down if it turns out that's not allowed.
