Good afternoon
Here are a few pieces to ponder and enjoy:
We’re only one generation away from losing America . . . Who is proud to be an American? I am. The good news is that an overwhelming majority of adults (68%) are very or extremely proud to be an American. The bad news is the only group that is not proud are young people. Only 36% of those aged 18 to 24 said that they were extremely or very proud. Despite all of the media coverage about racial issues in our country, only 7% of the
black respondents and 9% who are Hispanic said they are not proud to be American. In fact, the majority said they were either extremely or very proud to be an American. President Ronald Reagan warned about this years ago when he said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same . . .”
The first battle is fighting for free speech. In most schools and on my campuses, cancel culture is really as conservative voices are blocked. Liberal bias is not enough. Radicals want total control of the message. We must teach our children and our grandchildren about the history of this remarkable nation. We need to reach more young people and start sooner — before the indoctrination is complete.

What’s Wrong With CRT? . . . One of the main reasons that some dismiss concerns about the destructiveness of the critical race theory (CRT) is that they confuse it with “critical thinking,” an educational concept that stresses reason, the ability to engage in reflective and independent thinking, and understanding the logical connection between ideas. Contrary to the claims of some of its defenders, CRT is not simply a benign
academic theory that marks another milestone in the advancement of civil rights for African Americans. The central claim of (CRT) is United States is fundamentally unjust because of “systemic” racism. CRT is a species of what Marx called “kritik,” which in the guise of “critical theory,” rejects the validity of rationality and objective truth.
Karl Marx and his followers looked at human action through the lens of class alone. The most convenient lens for examining human action recently is race. Critical theory posits two categories: oppressed and oppressors. In Marx’s original formulations, the lens was economic class. The bourgeoisie was the oppressor class and the proletariat were the oppressed. We live in a country founded on principles that reject the concept of racial superiority. Living up to those principles, not
embracing the pernicious doctrine of CRT, is the best antidote to racial problems in this country.

Our Increasingly Unrecognizable Civilization . . . America, and the West in general, have become almost unrecognizable from what they were not that long ago. Look at just three things we have lost. One is equality before the law, something absolutely essential to a free society. In its place, we now have politicized law. If a policeman fatally shoots someone, whether his name is released to the public depends on whether the shooting
is consistent with the preferred narrative of the ruling class. A policeman recently took down a young woman who was threatening the life of another young woman with a knife, and that policeman was immediately identified—indeed, his photo was posted and he was threatened by NBA superstar LeBron James on Twitter. On the other hand, we know nothing of the policeman who shot dead an unarmed woman in the U.S. Capitol on January 6. His name will apparently never be released to the public.
Second, border control. Functioning societies have borders. America has no southern border and no plans to get one. The official position of our government seems to be that any of the seven billion persons on this planet has a right to come and stay in the U.S. for three years, until his or her assigned court date comes up. As the number of people with pending cases continues to grow, that three years will extend out to five or seven or 15 years. If we get all seven billion people to
come here, the court system will break down entirely and maybe we can go back to having a functioning border.
And third, dare I bring up the fact that it is a real question whether we can go back to agreeing to have open and honest elections? And if we don’t have open and honest elections, control of our borders, and equality before the law, then we don’t have the conditions for politics or free government.
