Good morning
Welcome to today's top news.
Leading the News . . .
Can American Cities Survive? . . . The troubles currently facing New York City and its residents are boundless. Skyrocketing crime, random assaults, stabbings, and shootings have hurt the already struggling restaurant and tourism industries amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. There is also an obvious decline in the quality of life from higher taxes, increased homelessness, as well as the difficult situations faced by low-income families forced
into low- quality public schools.
The direct impact that COVID-19 has had on the business culture in Midtown compared to the outer boroughs has been devastating. Life in the boroughs had to continue as normal as many people didn’t have the opportunity to leave the city. Much of the damage done to the city is not on an infrastructure level but rather on a policy level. To reinforce what makes the city function – like it did in the Rudy Guliani days – there is a very difficult path ahead. Saving New York City
is important, because success there can serve as a model and an inspiration for cities across America which have suffered under the pandemic. If we can’t bounce back and recover, we simply won’t survive. Gingrich360
Poll: Biden approval holds steady at 61 percent . . . President Biden's job approval has held steady from last month, according to a new Hill-HarrisX poll.Sixty-one percent of registered voters approve of Biden's job in the White House, while 39 percent of respondents disapprove. A May 17-19 Hill-HarrisX survey found that 60 percent of participants approved of Biden's job in office, and 40 percent disapproved. The Hill
Allrighty.
'The era of bipartisanship is over': Senate hits rough patch . . . The Senate’s months-long effort to clinch bipartisan deals — and prove the body can still function — is quickly running out of gas.
The Senate passed legislation this week aimed at combating China’s competitiveness, in a win claimed by both sides as an example of how the embattled chamber can cut and pass meaningful agreements. But senators are facing a heavy lift as they try to figure out what’s next on the legislative agenda, with a host of bipartisan talks facing skepticism and Democrats grappling with dissent in their ranks. ‘They Don’t Buy Into That At All’: Are Far-Left Policies Behind Hispanic Voters’ Rightward Shift? . . . Hispanic Americans have been voting Republican at record high rates, helping the GOP make inroads in traditionally Democratic areas, and in some cases, flip long-held Democratic seats. Most apparent were the gains that Republicans made in the 2020 presidential election, sizably increasing their vote share in states with large and small
Hispanic populations alike and winning several competitive congressional races as a result. This past weekend Republicans swept Texas’ mayoral races, winning in both large cities like Fort Worth and smaller cities like McAllen, a border town in the heavily-Democratic Rio Grande Valley. The Hill
Latinos, as many other groups, are not easily fooled by the leftist propagandists.
Megyn Kelly: Biden has ‘someone very near & dear in mind’ when he talks about racists . . . Megyn Kelly says she knows who President Biden has in mind when he speaks on “racial inequities and the systemic racism that continue to plague our nation”: his son. The journalist-turned-successful-podcaster told fans this week that newly revealed texts from Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop offer a glimpse into family’s racial attitudes when
the cameras are off. Ms Kelly tweeted her criticism of the Biden family to her 2.4 million fans. She also linked to the Daily Mail, which broke the story of the president’s son repeatedly using the N-word in private correspondence with his lawyer. Washington Times
Biden says he will let Putin 'know what I want him to know' . . . President Biden arrived in England on Wednesday for his first foreign trip, telling U.S. troops at an air base that he’s on a mission to reinforce alliances with the world’s leading democracies before his showdown next week with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Mr. Biden said his talks with allies in the meeting of the Group of Seven leading industrial nations, NATO and the European Union are important preludes to his summit next week in Geneva with Mr. Putin “to let him know what I want him to know.” Mr. Biden and first lady Jill Biden arrived at Royal Air Force Mildenhall, the only permanent American refueling wing in Europe, as the first stop on their weeklong trip. As Mr. Biden took the stage and started his speech, he quickly interrupted
himself. “Please, at ease,” he told the troops. “I keep forgetting I’m president.” Washington Times
Cut the crap, Joe. Putin has figured you out, last time around.
Never Trumper wins GOP gubernatorial primary in New Jersey . . . The most fervent supporters of former President Donald Trump fell short Tuesday in their underdog bids for the GOP gubernatorial nomination in New Jersey, but left with some bragging rights after collecting a sizable share of the vote. Former State Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli proved to be a better fit for the deep-blue state after navigating a tricky four-way primary battle
in which he was branded a “Never Trumper” and his rivals touted their devotion to the former president. White House Dossier
Well, it’s New Jersey. It’s a wonderful state, but not exactly Trump country. Although it does look like the pro-Trump GOP vote was split.
Democrats Choose White Man to Succeed Blackface Governor . . . Democrats on Tuesday voted overwhelmingly to nominate former governor Terry McAuliffe (D., Va.) to succeed Gov. Ralph Northam (D., Va.), who is somehow still in office after surviving a series of racism scandals involving blackface and a Ku Klux Klan outfit. In a repeat of the 2020 presidential primary, Democratic voters were more comfortable backing a familiar white man in a
field that featured a number of qualified minority candidates. McAuliffe cruised to the nomination, winning every single county in the state and finishing with 62.3 percent of the vote. Washington Free Beacon
Capitol Police welcome emotional support dog to force . . . Capitol Police have added another member to their force in the form of an emotional support dog. "We are thrilled to welcome the newest member of our Department!" the Capitol Police tweeted on Wednesday. Along with the announcement, the department shared three photos of the young dog. "2-year-old Lila is our first full-time emotional support black lab," they added. The
emotional support dog received several messages of praise from Twitter users, many of whom congratulated her on the new role. The Hill
Putin's National Guard got pitbulls.
It's not my intent to minimize the importance of mental health for our officers. But why do the agencies need to make such a big deal of this stuff? The GRU, FSB and others are watching this spectacle, making conclusions.
‘All We’ve Gotten Is The Cold Shoulder’: GOP Rep. Being Blocked From Congressional Black Caucus . . . Republican Florida Rep. Byron Donalds is reportedly being blocked from joining the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC). “Since starting in Congress, our office and the Congressman have engaged with several CBC members expressing his interest in joining, but all we’ve gotten is the cold shoulder,” Donalds’ Communications Director,
Harrison Fields, told the Daily Caller. The CBC is denying Donalds entrance, individuals familiar with the caucus’s plans reportedly told Buzzfeed News. Daily Caller
Trump hosts fundraiser for Elise Stefanik in New Jersey . . .
Former President Donald Trump hosted a fundraiser for New York Rep. Elise Stefanik on Wednesday night at his Bedminster golf club in New Jersey. Stefanik, who was elected last month by her GOP peers to replace Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney as the House Republican Conference chairwoman, is a staunch ally of the former president, who supported her bid for the leadership role. Washington Examiner

America’s Energy Gift to Dictators . . . The U.S. is barreling toward one of the greatest self-inflicted wounds in its history. This came into sharper focus last week when President Biden suspended oil leases in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), even as Russia and the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) announced production increases. Mr. Biden’s anti-carbon fusillade will have no
effect on the climate as global demand for fossil fuels will continue to increase for decades no matter what the U.S. does. Meantime, Russia, China and Iran will take advantage of America’s astonishing fossil-fuel retreat. Analysis. Wall Street Journal
‘Hoover would be appalled’: Misconduct, politicization plagues FBI . . . A leaked government report on May 31 revealed that a “slimy” high-ranking FBI agent groped female subordinates and drank on the job. Then the next day, prosecutors in Maryland charged a former FBI agent with attempted murder in the shooting of a man on a subway. It was an embarrassing week for the FBI, whose image has been shattered in recent years by
accusations of political bias. Now, as the FBI tries to shake off the political taint, it finds itself dealing with questions of competency. “If [former] Director [J. Edgar] Hoover were still around, he would be appalled by this week’s news,” said David Stebenne, a professor at Ohio State University who has written books on the history of the FBI. Washington Times
These are the same type "professionals" who were duped by the Russian 'disinfo' covert influence operation that fed much of the salacious bogus content about Trump for the Clinton-ordered, Steele Dossier.
And the same 'guardians' of law and order who went in to the White House to entrap my former boss, DIA Director General Michael Flynn -- about his perfectly legitimate conversations with the Russian Ambassador -- under the guise of "interviewing" him.
JBS Paid $11 Million to Resolve Ransomware Attack . . . JBS USA Holdings Inc. paid an $11 million ransom to cybercriminals who last week temporarily knocked out plants that process roughly one-fifth of the nation’s meat supply, the company’s chief executive said. The ransom payment, in bitcoin, was made to shield JBS meat plants from further disruption and to limit the potential impact on restaurants, grocery stores and farmers that rely
on JBS, said Andre Nogueira, chief executive of Brazilian meat company JBS SA’s U.S. division. “It was very painful to pay the criminals, but we did the right thing for our customers,” Mr. Nogueira said. Wall Street Journal
Pretty good rate for a couple days of work. Why wouldn't anyone who is cyber-competent decide to rake in a little dough that way?
Exporting Chinese surveillance: the security risks of ‘smart cities’ . . . Critics say the technology can be a tool for ‘digital authoritarianism’ and leaves countries vulnerable to cyber attack. Belgrade’s Republic Square, one of the cultural and social hubs of the Serbian capital, is now at the centre of an international debate about the export of Chinese technology, authoritarian surveillance and cyber security. The square is
under constant observation by equipment made in China. A surveillance camera system installed by Huawei, the Chinese technology group, has the capacity to monitor the behavior of people in the square and elsewhere in the city, recognize their faces, identify their vehicle number plates and make judgments on whether suspicious activities are afoot. The controversy in Serbia is being repeated in different ways across the world as scores of countries — including several western democracies —
install surveillance technology as part of “safe city” and “smart city” packages supplied by Chinese companies including Huawei, ZTE Corporation, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology, Zhejiang Dahua Technology, Alibaba and others. Financial Times
It's super hard to do but US companies should stay the heck away from anything made in China, when it comes to technology. Especially made by Huawei. And of course, please do not let Chinese- or Russian-made software anywhere near your computers, like the US government did. In a brilliant move, USG installed Kaspersky "anti-virus" software, to "protect" our government networks from cyber intrusions. Until President Trump booted the Russian
spyware out of USG systems. Can't make this stuff up.
Pentagon to consider authorizing airstrikes in Afghanistan if country falls into crisis: report . . . The Pentagon is weighing whether to authorize airstrikes in Afghanistan if its capital, Kabul, or other parts of the country fall to the Taliban. Military officials are actively discussing how to respond to potential consequences following the withdrawal of U.S. troops, slated to be completed by September. President Biden and his
administration had said previously that air support would also end, except for strikes that target terrorist groups that could impact American interests, the Times noted. The Hill

Kim Jong Un’s apparent weight loss sparks speculation over health . . . North Korea watchers are eager to get the skinny on leader Kim Jong Un’s apparent weight loss — which some speculate might be a sign of deteriorating health. The famously corpulent despot looked noticeably slimmer in photos released by state media Saturday — after not being seen publicly for a month, the Guardian reported. South Korea-based NK
News, which analyzed photos of Kim addressing a ruling party politburo meeting last week, said he appeared to have lost a “significant amount of weight.” New York Post

Drug traffickers change tactics to avoid Covid-19 travel curbs . . . Drug traffickers are adapting to Covid-19 travel restrictions and border closures by switching from using human couriers to shipping containers and commercial supply chains, European officials have warned. Law enforcement experts say the illicit drug market has proved “remarkably resilient” to the disruption caused by the pandemic as traffickers alter the routes and
methods used in wholesale smuggling and increase the production of illegal drugs in Europe. An increase in maritime seizures of heroin, usually smuggled over land from the Middle East to Europe, has also been reported. Large seizures of both cannabis and heroin were reported in a number of European seaports in the second half of 2020. Financial

Study shows hydroxychloroquine and zinc treatments increased coronavirus survival rate by almost three times . . . A new study shows that the controversial drug hydroxychloroquine touted by former President Donald Trump increased the survival rate of severely ill coronavirus patients. The observational study, published by medRxiv, found that antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine, along with zinc, could increase the coronavirus survival
rate by as much as nearly 200% if distributed at higher doses to ventilated patients with a severe version of the illness. “We found that when the cumulative doses of two drugs, HCQ and AZM, were above a certain level, patients had a survival rate 2.9 times the other patients,” the study’s conclusion states. ‘Maybe He [Toni Fauci] Ought To Buy An Emotional Support Pony’: Sen. Kennedy Says Tony Fauci ‘Needs To Cut The Crap’ Republican Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy said Wednesday that Dr. Anthony Fauci “needs to cut the crap” and respond to critics of his work as the chief White House coronavirus expert. “But Dr. Fauci needs to cut the crap. This is not about Dr. Fauci … I am sorry if his feelings were hurt,” Kennedy said, adding that “maybe
he ought to buy an emotional support pony.” Daily Caller
I love Sen. Kennedy's speaking style! He talks like my Russian Dad. Trump has a similar style, which is why many Latino Americans and Russian Americans like The Donald and relate to him. Not uptight. No pretense. Says it how it is. They don't mind someone who speaks plainly. Rough around the edges and can be a bully, but intellectually honest.

Emails reveal plans by Hunter Biden to conquer a turbulent world ... for money . . . Evidence in FBI hands shows Biden called Italian region president, lobbied French ambassador, and targeted sovereign wealth funds. The world was on fire in February 2014, and Joe Biden was President Obama's point man for many of the crises. Russia had shocked the West by invading the Crimean region of Ukraine. Syria was engulfed in a bloody civil war
with ISIS. And Iraq was rocked by a wave of terrorist bombings that killed more than 100 civilians. Hunter Biden, the vice president's son, and his colleagues at Rosemont Seneca Partners and related businesses found it the perfect time to conquer a turbulent world for more business, according to emails on a Hunter Biden laptop hard drive seized by the FBI in December 2019 from a Delaware repair shop. One of their plans was to target the sovereign wealth funds of America's richest
allies, from Eastern Europe to the Middle East. Just the News
Amazon, Walmart rivalry heats up with dueling prescription discounts . . . Amazon and Walmart's latest cost-cutting competition is happening over the pharmacy counter. On Tuesday, Amazon and Walmart offered similar programs touting that Prime and Walmart+ members would get better access to commonly prescribed medications while offering discounts on them without relying on insurance. Amazon Pharmacy confirmed to FOX Business the
e-commerce giant is now offering a six-month supply option for eligible medications and if Prime members pay without insurance, they'll be privy to "additional savings." Select medications will start at $1 per month with unlimited, free two-day delivery. Fox Business
Under socialism, competition among businesses will not exist. Who would want to work their "little behinds" off, to make their products and services better and more affordable, knowing that the government will appropriate the fruits of your labor and redistribute the proceeds, to make everyone "equal."

Black professor urges 'antiracist' parents to pull students from NJ prep school . . . Columbia University linguistics professor John McWhorter, who is Black, said Wednesday evening that parents of children enrolled at a New Jersey private school that has started to teach critical race theory should pull them out before the fall. "All hail Dana Stangel-Plowe, who has resigned from the Dwight-Englewood School, which
teaches students ‘antiracism’ that sees life as nothing but abuse of power, and teaches that cringing, hostile group identity against oppression is the essence of a self," McWhorter tweeted. Fox News
Teacher Bucks ‘Transgender’ Mafia, Judge Backs Him . . . District Judge James Plowman ordered the Loudoun County, Virginia, school board to reinstate Leesburg Elementary School gym teacher Byron “Tanner” Cross. He’s the Christian who was suspended last week following his public criticism of and refusal to comply with the district’s “transgender” policy. In his decision Plowman wrote, “The public’s knowledge that [Cross’s] speech was
permissible, is encouraged, and is free from governmental oppression serves the public interest. Governmental bodies being held in check for violating a citizen’s constitutional rights serves the public interest.” Plowman’s ruling does not end the lawsuit Cross filed against Loudoun County Public Schools. So encouraging to see that teachers are taking action, risking their livelihoods, against the various lunacy-type ideologies that government-run schools poison our children with. Let's support these folks.
Cancel culture knives are now out for apple pie: ‘As American as stolen land’ . . . The British publication The Guardian recently published a food article titled “Food injustice: Let’s start with America’s apple pie,” penned by contributor Raj Patel — who questions the origins of apples and sugar in the U.S. and makes the case that they have played a role in creating a negative cultural outcome. “In the drama of nationalist culture, the
bloody and international origins of the apple pie are subject to a collective amnesia. The apple pie is as American as stolen land, wealth and labor,” Mr. Patel wrote in his analysis. The Guardian links this American symbol to the ‘vast and ongoing genocide of indigenous people’, the slave trade and even calls traditional gingham cloth it sits on cultural appropriation,” the Daily Mail wrote. Heavier Passengers on Planes Mean New Safety Limits for Airlines . . . Passengers keep getting bigger. Now airlines must account more accurately for that. The Federal Aviation Administration is requiring updates to passenger and baggage weight estimates that airlines use to keep each flight within airplane safety limits. Each U.S. airline must submit a plan by June 12 explaining which average weights for passengers and baggage they’ll
use, down to phones and clothing, and how they estimated those weights. The FAA must approve each airline’s plan. Airline officials say the weight estimates used for passengers and baggage are going up between 5% and 10%. A change in an FAA weight rule could result in more fliers getting bumped from flights and more baggage delays. Wall Street Journal
Here's a puzzle for my readers. The other day, I pulled out an old professional Ann Taylor dress, from about 20 years ago. I tried it on and it still fit great. I looked at the label - size 4. Then I looked at a new dress I got recently, the blue one that I wore for my Fox News TV hit. Size 0. If anything, I've gained a few pounds over the years, having had two kids. My weight has increased, but my dress size has decreased. Still trying to figure out this paradox.

Bear gets stuck on Arizona utility pole, video shows . . . A bear in southern Arizona caused quite a stir this week, along with a brief power outage, after it climbed up a utility pole and became stuck. Utility company Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative (SSVEC) sent Werner Neubauer, a company lineman and his apprentice lineman to disable the power and rescue the trapped bear. "He [the bear] was in a pretty
dangerous spot. Could’ve very easily gotten himself electrocuted." Neubauer said.
Soon after, the lineman said he went up in a bucket lift to try to help get the animal down. At one point, he even tried talking to it. "Alright, little bear. Time to get off this pole." Neubauer said. "I think I told him I was gonna help him get down the pole." "I know he couldn’t understand me. But it did get his attention." Thanks to his efforts, the bear eventually climbed down and ran off into the desert. The animal was uninjured. Fox News
Only in America, a utility company would rush a lineman to disable the power, so an animal wouldn't get electrocuted. You know what the Russians -- and many others -- would do? You guessed it - they would let the Allah sort it out, at best.
How can anyone call Americans racists, "committing atrocities" - as one of the 'nice' Squad ladies said recently -- or any other garbage?
