Is the CIA in your underwear? . . . By Andrew Napolitano. The intelligence community's development of  . . . The CIA is spending millions in tax dollars to get into your underwear next year. The are developing Smart ePants. Eleven years ago, then-CIA Director David Petraeus gave a talk to CIA analysts in which he revealed that CIA vendors had discovered a means to log on to the computer chips in microwave ovens and dishwashers. From there, they could listen in real time to the conversations in a kitchen if those chatting were near the appliances.

Is the CIA in your kitchen? Yes. Not physically, but virtually. The CIA, notwithstanding a clause in its charter that prohibits it from engaging in surveillance in the United States has a long history of domestic spying without search warrants. I present this brief background to offer a flavor for the mindset of the feds who spy on us and to address the latest craze among senior intelligence officials in the Biden administration.

Last week, Avril Haines, the director of national intelligence — the nominal head of all 17 federal surveillance agencies — revealed to Congress that she had spent $22 million to develop cotton fibers that she called “smart clothing.” The fibers would enable the CIA and other federal spies to record audio, video and geolocation data from your shirt, pants, socks and even your underwear. She billed this as the largest single investment ever made to develop Smart ePants.
“Smart ePants”? How appropriate is that name for federal intrusion? Washington Times

McConnell publicly vows to ‘finish’ term after private update to Senate GOP . . . Mitch McConnell faced the press on Wednesday for the first time since his 30-second on-camera pause last week, fielding questions about his health and future leading the Senate GOP. McConnell leaned on a pair of letters from Capitol physician Brian Monahan that cleared him to continue his duties, stating that the 81-year-old minority leader has showed no evidence of a stroke or seizure disorder. “Dr. Monahan covered the subject in full. You’ve had a chance to read it. I don’t have anything to add to it. I have no announcements to make on that subject. I’m going to finish my term as leader and I’m going to finish my Senate term,” said McConnell, whose term as leader expires at the end of this Congress. Politico

Hunter’s business pal emailed then-VP Biden ‘quotes’ to give media amid Ukraine corruption probe . . . Vice President Joseph R. Biden took a call in 2015 from Ukrainian energy firm executives seeking help in thwarting a corruption investigation on the same day he signed off on talking points written by his son’s business partner that aimed to tamp down media interest in Hunter Biden’s lucrative job on the company’s board. The Dec. 4, 2015, email from Hunter Biden’s business associate Eric Schwerin was sent to the vice president’s assistant, Kate Bedingfield, and provided “quotes” for Mr. Biden to use in response to media inquiries about his son’s job on the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings. Ms. Bedingfield replied to Mr. Schwerin later that day that “VP signed off on this.” Washington Times

Most Americans think Joe Biden was involved in Hunter's business dealings . . . Since at least 2019, President Joe Biden maintained that he never spoke a word with his son, Hunter Biden, about his overseas business dealings and influence peddling, a promise that carried the Democrat across the finish line and into the presidency without suffering so much as a scratch from the now-infamous New York Post report on his son's laptop. Then, nearly four years and more than half a presidential term later, the White House carefully but conspicuously shifted the goalposts, swearing that Biden "was never in business with his son." Pentagon Officials Worked To Finalize Climate Plan During Botched Afghanistan Withdrawal, Emails Show . . . In the midst of the Biden administration’s disastrous military withdrawal from Afghanistan, top Pentagon officials were working to get the Secretary of Defense to sign a major climate change initiative, according to emails obtained by The Daily Wire. In the two weeks between the fall of Kabul to the Taliban on August 15, 2021, and the final U.S. military flight out of Afghanistan on August 30, Pentagon officials were scrambling with the White House to finalize the Department of Defense Climate Adaptation Plan, a document that declares climate change a major national security risk. Fears of Ukraine graft grow as US tries to tackle corruption with new aid package . . . As the Biden administration announced a new round of assistance worth up to $1 billion to Ukraine on Wednesday, some analysts warn that reports of continued graft and mismanagement of funds could harm Western support of the country's war effort. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Sunday that Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov is being replaced, amid renewed reports of corruption within Ukraine. Reznikov was criticized in Ukraine's media for overpaying for military jackets last month that cost $57 more than their typical price.

During the visit, Blinken unveiled a new round of funding assistance for Ukraine, including $175 million from Defense Department stocks, $100 million in military financing, $90.5 million in humanitarian demining assistance, $300 million to support the country's law enforcement, $206 million in humanitarian aid, and $5.4 million in forfeited oligarch assets meant to support veteran reintegration and rehabilitation. The new package also includes $203 million to help reform efforts in transparency and accountability in the country.  Fox News

US to send Ukraine depleted uranium rounds for M1 Abrams tanks . . . The Biden administration formally announced plans today to begin delivering controversial 120 mm armor-piercing munitions to Ukraine for its ground forces to fire from its M1A1 Abrams tanks. After months of speculation — and dodged questions at the Pentagon — over whether US-produced depleted uranium tank ammunition would eventually make it into combat inside Ukraine, the State Department unveiled the move as part of a larger $175 million weapons package. American Oshkosh military armored vehicles reportedly deployed to Ukraine . . . A Wisconsin heavy-duty vehicle maker that had an impact during World War II is again manufacturing vehicles that the Pentagon is reportedly using to assist the Ukrainians amid the Russian invasion. Oshkosh Corporation, which produces Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected vehicles, more commonly called MRAPs, along with fire trucks and construction equipment, now have their vehicles on-the-ground in Ukraine. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv to announce another aid package. This time it will be $1 billion. Fox Business

Pentagon IG to examine how DoD discovered billions more for Ukraine after ‘valuation errors’ . . . The Pentagon’s inspector general plans to audit the military’s books to make sure everything was above board related to the department’s determination earlier this year that it had essentially discovered $6.2 billion due to “valuation errors” for weapons bound for Ukraine, according to a new IG letter. Joe Biden administration to restrict Alaska oil and gas drilling . . . The White House on Wednesday scrapped controversial oil leases in an Alaskan wildlife reserve that were awarded in the final days of the Trump administration as part of a broad effort to clamp down on Arctic drilling. The leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge were issued on January 6 2021, days ahead of Trump’s departure from office, but were suspended six months later by the Biden administration’s interior department. Their cancellation on the basis of “multiple legal deficiencies” comes as President Joe Biden’s White House looks to burnish its environmental credentials in the face of criticism over support for fossil fuel projects. As of 2020, the birthrate was 1.6, meaning women now have between one and two children. The number of women who have no children has increased significantly in recent years. Equally as sobering is the fact that about 80% of these childless women wanted to have children but either never found a man they wanted to start a family with or their biological clock ran out of time.
