August 21, 2023 Good morning, Welcome to today's top news. Leading the
News . . . Five indications Joe Biden will not run in 2024 . . . By Jason Chaffetz. Standing before a New Mexico audience recently, President Biden unintelligibly joked that, "I hibernated in a while – all, you know, in Iowa for a while." It’s not clear what he
meant by that, but hibernating is an apt descriptor of the Biden 2024 re-election campaign. Though Biden was mocked for seemingly campaigning from his basement in 2020, this summer he appears to be campaigning from the beach. That’s where he spent the weekend while Maui burned, and serious presidential contenders drummed up support at the Iowa State Fair. That’s just one of several indicators that Biden may not be planning to see his name on a ballot next year. Fox News China, Russia-led
bloc wants to dethrone US dollar, upend world order. Will they succeed? . . . By Rebekah Koffler. The leaders of the five nations seeking to upend the West’s dominance in global affairs will gather on Aug. 22-24 for their 15th summit of the BRICS. The bloc of countries led by China and Russia seeks to upend the U.S. dollar. The major move among non-Western countries towards de-dollarization has gained much momentum in the past year and a half. It is a direct result of what
many analysts call the "weaponization" of the U.S. dollar by the U.S. government that levies economic sanctions on countries that Washington doesn’t agree with politically. Washington’s policy of using the
U.S. dollar as the non-kinetic, economic warfare tool to change Putin’s behavior – although it hasn’t worked since 2014 – prompted many non-Western countries to seek ways to reduce their dependence on the dollar. Many are eager to join BRICS for that reason. More than 40 countries have recently expressed interest in joining the block in an effort to reduce the currency risk and bypass U.S. sanctions, if necessary. These aspirants include both foes as well as Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Indonesia
and Argentina. Fox News
Trump holds
23-point lead over DeSantis among Iowa Republican caucusgoers: survey . . . Former President Trump holds a comfortable lead over GOP presidential candidate Ron DeSantis among likely Iowa Republican caucusgoers, according to a new poll. The NBC News/Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll released early Monday found that 42 percent of likely Republican caucus attendees in Iowa listed Trump as their first choice, giving the former president a 23-point lead over DeSantis, who was picked by 19
percent. The Hill Former President Donald Trump confirmed Sunday he will skip the 2024 GOP Presidential Primary debates . . . “The public knows who I am & what a successful Presidency I had, with Energy Independence, Strong Borders & Military, Biggest EVER Tax & Regulation Cuts, No Inflation, Strongest Economy in History, & much more. I WILL THEREFORE NOT BE DOING THE DEBATES!” Trump announced on Truth
Social. Daily Caller Makes sense. But holding a Tucker interview at the very same time as Fox will be running the debates is a huge mistake. Many people do want to watch both. Vivek Ramaswamy, the youngest Republican presidential candidate ever is giving a interview to Tucker Carlson This is a must listen. It's 45 minutes but worth every second of it. Everyone Knows Why Joe Biden Used A Pseudonym: Corruption . . . Late last week, the House Oversight Committee asked the National Archives for unredacted communications involving three pseudonyms Joe Biden apparently used during his vice presidency: Robert Peters, Robin Ware, and JRB Ware. That’s right, Biden used pseudonyms when he was vice president. Among the documents committee Chairman James Comer is requesting from the National Archives is an email sent to a “Robert Peters” — that is, Biden — with the subject line “Friday Schedule Card,” which included an attachment that had details about a scheduled phone call between then-Vice President Biden and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in May 2016. The only person copied on the
email was Hunter Biden. Isn’t that interesting? Why would Biden use an alias to convey this information to his son? And why, if there was “an absolute wall” between Hunter’s foreign business schemes and his father’s duties as vice president (as Biden has repeatedly claimed), would he have told his son about a phone call with the Ukrainian president? Especially since at the time Hunter was sitting on the board of Burisma, the Ukrainian energy firm that had recently been under investigation. Federalist
Chris Sununu pledges to do 'everything' he can to narrow GOP primary field . . . Gov. Chris Sununu (R-NH) said he would do "everything" he can to "help narrow" the Republican presidential primary field to avoid having former President Donald Trump jeopardize GOP electoral chances in the 2024 election. The New Hampshire governor wrote in an op-ed for the New York Times that he would "endorse and campaign" for whom the most viable alternative to the
former president is in the GOP field and that his endorsement is available to any of the other Republican candidates. Washington Examiner

Iranian drones
and speedboats swarm US warship and docking ship . . . Dozens of Iranian drones and speedboats swarming two US Navy ships near the Persian Gulf after Washington sent them in to deal with Iran's renewed threat against one of the world's most important waterways, dramatic new footage has revealed. Iran's navy sent the small vessels to confront the USS Bataan and the USS Carter Hall in the fraught Strait of Hormuz, which sits between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, according to a
video published on Saturday. The speedboats were manned with armed soldiers from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and came within inches of the ships, while drones also taunted the ships and managed to snap pictures right above them. Daily
Mail Preventing a Nuclear-Armed Iran: Shifting to Deterrence Is Long Overdue . . . While Washington is focused on Europe, Iran keeps moving ominously closer to
becoming a nuclear weapons state and it is time the United States do more to prevent the Ayatollahs from developing nuclear weapons and setting off a nuclear proliferation chain reaction. Iran is a signatory to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT), which requires the regime to forgo the pursuit of nuclear weapons. Iran claims no interest in nuclear weapons, but its actions go far beyond peaceful purposes in defiance of the NPT. The consequences of a nuclear-armed Iran are terrible for the
United States, the Middle East, and existential for the state of Israel. Real Clear Defense
Should the West Fear Putin’s Fall? . . . Some believe the war in Ukraine won’t end until Russia’s president is deposed, but a takeover by
a more radical or less predictable successor would carry big risks of its own. On all sides of the conflict, minds are increasingly focused on what a post-Putin Russia might look like. Would his successor be better or worse for Ukraine, the outside world, and Russians themselves? And what policy changes today could produce a desirable outcome? Planning is difficult given the uncertainties of Russian politics and the West’s limited ability to exert influence there. And for all his
current troubles, Putin, who turns 71 in October, could still be around for years to come. Wall Street Journal Mirror-imaging is the biggest malaise that plagues Washington Establishment "experts", including those in the US intelligence community. These analysts apply Western mental models to foreign, in this
case Russian, behaviors and decision-making. And that's why their analysis is wrong from the start. If Putin gets hit by a bus tomorrow, Moscow will pursue the very same security strategy that it has been for decades. There's NO uncertainty in Russian politics, as the WSJ claims. Unlike US politics, Russian politics is VERY predictable. Putin continues to enjoy overwhelming support of the Russian people. He will likely win presidency again in 2024. Unless he
decides to transfer it to someone who is even more brutal, such as Prigozhin. Russians don't think like Americans. They think like Russians. Chinese don't think like Americans - they think like Chinese. Why is it such a hard concept to grasp? International
China urges
Brics to become geopolitical rival to G7 . . . China will push the Brics bloc of emerging markets to become a full-scale rival to the G7 this week, as leaders from across the developing world gather to debate the forum’s biggest expansion in more than a decade. South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa has invited more than 60 heads of state and government to a summit in Johannesburg from Wednesday when several countries could be invited to join the bloc of Brazil, Russia, India, China
and South Africa, said several officials familiar with talks. Financial Times David Sacks: Sadly, Ukraine Will Be Destroyed Before Washington Admits We Need A Diplomatic Solution . . . David Sacks of Craft Ventures, the co-host of the "All-In" podcast, made the case for a diplomatic solution to the Ukraine War during an interview last week with Hugh Hewitt. "I don’t think the idea that Putin is Hitler is a serious argument," Sacks said. "The causes of this war have been known for
decades, which mainly has to do with Russian security concerns which the West continuously ignored." "I think at some point, we’re going to have to recognize that we are going to have to do what we always needed to do, which was engage in serious diplomacy to solve this conflict. And sadly, we’re going to recognize that fact, I think, after this country is completely destroyed and the West has basically fought to the last Ukrainian," Sacks said. Real Clear Politics Watch retired army colonel and a fellow DIA intelligence officer, Tony Shaffer, as he discusses Russia-Ukraine conflict and Putin's strategy. It is a real shame that Western legacy media have effectively shut down all realistic voices on Russia-Ukraine, in favor of the Washington Establishment propagandists. These goons are running a disinformation operation on the American people as the country of Ukraine and its people are being obliterated.
Germany
U-turns on commitment to meet NATO spending target annually . . . BERLIN — So much for Olaf Scholz’s Zeitenwende. The German government on Wednesday stepped back at the last minute from making a legal commitment to meeting NATO’s target of spending 2 percent of GDP on defense on an annual basis, according to Reuters and German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung. A government official told the news agency that a clause pledging to meet the target was deleted at short notice from Finance
Minister Christian Lindner’s draft of a new budget financing law, just before the Cabinet passed it to the parliament. Politico EU Yeah, why bother? The American taxpayer will pick up the tab while Zelensky will continue to throw Ukrainian boys by the thousands into Putin's meat grinder, to shield the Europeans from "the Russian threat." Money US economist warns Americans to ‘hunker down’ and ‘save your pennies’ as economy overheats . . . When looking at the gas pump meter or prices of canned soup on grocery store shelves, many Americans are still feeling a cost of living crunch that’s burning holes in their wallets. One global economist warned, U.S. consumers will soon have to "hunker
down" in preparation for an even more "painful" economy. "Indeed save your pennies because unfortunately, the economic outlook is going to get worse before it gets better," Piper Sandler chief global economist Nancy Lazar told Fox News Digital. "So being conservative, careful with your credit cards… It is a time to hunker down and to try to maintain your savings rather [than] get further into debt." Fox Business New Study
Complicates Biden’s Claims That His Green Agenda Will Be Great For The Working Man . . . A recently-published study complicates President Joe Biden’s claims that his massive green agenda will allow for a “just transition” for blue-collar fossil fuel workers to land on their feet in his envisioned green economy. Biden has routinely asserted that his anti-fossil fuel “Bidenomics” agenda will usher in a new green manufacturing and jobs boom in the U.S. However, the study, authored by
researchers from the University of Pennsylvania, Wake Forest University and labor market analytics firm Lightcast, found that less than 1% of workers leaving fossil fuel-related jobs transition into green energy jobs, and that the supposed benefits of such a transition are unlikely to be evenly distributed across the country, geographically or socioeconomically. Culture How to Rally the Troops at Work When They’re Older (and Maybe Wiser) Than You . . . Generations are colliding at the office—and in the corporate hierarchy. Congrats, you’re the boss. The only problem is your team knows more than you. “You
could be my granddaughter,” Jasmine T. Clarke, a 43-year-old program manager in New York’s Hudson Valley, once heard from a direct report. “I don’t have to listen to you.” It’s a power dynamic more managers are facing as they try to rally and cajole teams that are becoming more multigenerational. Millennials, the largest generation in the workforce, are now mostly in their 30s and coming en force into manager roles. Meanwhile, older workers are retiring later, either because they have to, or
want to, keep working. The over-55 set will hold an additional 150 million jobs globally by 2030, a new Bain analysis projects. A rash of workers quitting amid the pandemic, plus recent layoffs,
scrambled hierarchies further. Some 20- and 30-somethings have suddenly found themselves leading workers with years, even decades, more tenure and experience. The pace of technological change means that the recent grad who majored in AI could be your boss before long. Wall Street Journal Oliver Anthony LIVE at Morris Farm Market
Tropical Storm Hilary releases fury on Southern California . . . The first tropical storm to hit Los Angeles in more than 80 years unleashed floods across parts of Southern California more accustomed to drought, as officials urged the public to stay safe as they began to count the cost of damage. The National Weather Service downgraded the hurricane to a tropical depression but not before California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency for much of Southern
California, with flash flood warnings until at least 3 a.m. (1000 GMT) on Monday. Reuters NYC Guardian Angels leader Curtis Sliwa arrested for second time in recent days during migrant housing protest . . . Guardian Angels founder and former Republican nominee for New York City mayor Curtis Sliwa was arrested on Sunday while protesting the Midland Beach Migrant Shelter on Staten Island. Video footage showed Sliwa and his supporters protesting in front of the
Midland Beach Migrant Shelter, which was formerly the Midland Beach Senior Citizen Home. "Eric Adams kicked out the elderly occupants of this nursing home in order to house illegal migrants," Sliwa said of New York City's mayor in a press release before the event. "He is despicable."
Fox News Rudy Giuliani Floats New 'Scientific Evidence' to Prove Innocence . . . Rudy Giuliani said he has new "scientific evidence" that will corroborate
claims of widespread election fraud and prove his innocence after being indicted on a dozen charges in Georgia. While on WABC's Sunday morning program, Giuliani responded to a caller who questioned how he could prove that he was not part of a criminal conspiracy to interfere with Georgia's 2020 presidential election. Giuliani, the former New York City mayor and longtime confidante of former President Donald Trump, discussed his legal strategy during the radio segment. Newsweek
Hilary
Makes Landfall, Destroying Over 30,000 Emails . . . Hurricane Hilary made landfall today in California, quickly destroying tens of thousands of emails upon her arrival. "My house is fine, but my email server -- annihilated," said San Diego resident Jim McKay. "Nature is so weird like that." According to officials, the final toll of Hilary's destruction may range into the hundreds of thousands of emails. "It may be a catastrophic loss - of data, at least," said Los Angeles mayor Karen
Bass. "I myself was not spared, as all e-mails relating to bribery money from USC and my friendly relations to the Castro family have been wiped out. Sad!" Babylon Bee
