Looters strike Apple, Foot Locker and Lululemon stores in Philadelphia; at least 15 people arrested in mass chaos . . . A group of young looters created havoc in Philadelphia Tuesday night, stealing from several stores in a spree that is unrelated to earlier peaceful protests over a judge’s decision to drop charges against a cop who fatally shot Eddie Irizarry, police said. The unruly crowd outnumbered responding officers as they went store to store
in Center City — lifting merchandise and stuffing the loot in large plastic bags, CBS Philadelphia reported. The shoplifters hit a Foot Locker and Apple store near 15th and Chestnut Streets as well as a Lululemon in Rittenhouse Square and are accused of assaulting a security guard at the shoe store, according to the local station. At least 15 people were arrested in connection to the frenzied mass-shoplifting event, according to ABC7. New York Post

FBI refuses to release documents in probe into possible nationwide voter registration fraud . . .
The FBI took over a 2020 probe into voter registration fraud that began in Michigan but has denied a Freedom of Information Act request regarding the investigation, citing an exemption in that law regarding ongoing investigations. According to the dozens of pages of police reports from the Muskegon Police Department and Michigan State Police, a firm called GBI Strategies was under scrutiny as an organization central to alleged voter registration fraud in the 2020 presidential election. The
matter was initially investigated by city and state authorities before the FBI took over. Just the News

Trump fraud ruling that cancels his business licenses a
‘devastating’ blow for ex-president, experts say . . . A ruling by a New York judge that Donald Trump had committed fraud — leaving the fate of his business empire dangling in uncertainty — was a “devastating” blow for the former president, legal experts said Tuesday night. If not successfully appealed, the decision will revoke the Trump Organization’s “business certificates,” preventing the 77-year-old from conducting business in the Empire State until the revocation is rescinded. Some Republican donors now eye Haley as best hope against Trump . . . Republican presidential hopeful Nikki Haley appears to be one of the biggest beneficiaries of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' faltering campaign, with more donors saying they are looking more closely at her candidacy as an alternative to frontrunner Donald Trump. Reuters spoke to four donors and one source close to a major donor who were impressed by the former South Carolina governor and U.S.
ambassador to the United Nations in the first Republican presidential debate in August and said they were keen to donate should she continue to strengthen as a candidate. Reuters

The War in Ukraine Is Also a Giant Arms Fair . . . Ukraine has become the world’s largest arms fair.
Companies that make the weapons being used in Ukraine have won orders and resurrected production lines. The deployment of billions of dollars worth of equipment in a major land war has also given manufacturers and militaries a unique opportunity to analyze the battlefield performance of weapons, and learn how best to use them. U.S. enemies and adversaries reveal intentions at United Nations General Assembly . . . The 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly opened this month with dictators and elected leaders alike — the U.N. does not prefer one or the other — descending upon New York City to
deliver mind-numbing speeches replete with misinformation and disinformation. It’s called the “General Debate,” but if you see the UNGA (pronounced un-gah) as a great deliberative body, I suggest you consult a competent ophthalmologist. Those concerned about America’s national security, however, can find morsels of significance in the word salads served up by our adversaries and enemies. (The difference between adversaries and enemies? The former intend to defeat us. The latter intend to
destroy us.) Washington Times
The Evidence of Russian New START Treaty Cheating is Growing . . . While Russia has “suspended” its observance of the New START Treaty (clearly in violation of the Treaty), it nonetheless claims that it is
continuing to observe its limitations. However, in its annual 2023 report on the New START Treaty, the U.S. Department of State was unable to certify Russian compliance with the numerical limitations of the Treaty. Enough time has passed since the last New START Treaty on-site inspection in March 2020 for Russia to have uploaded all or most of its strategic nuclear ballistic missiles. Real Clear Defense

Inside Iran’s influence operation . . . In the spring of 2014, senior Iranian Foreign Ministry officials initiated a quiet effort to bolster Tehran’s image and positions on global security issues — particularly its nuclear program — by building ties with a network of influential overseas academics and researchers. They called it the Iran Experts Initiative. The scope and scale of the IEI project has emerged in a large cache of Iranian government correspondence and
emails reported for the first time by Semafor and Iran International. The officials, working under the moderate President Hassan Rouhani, congratulated themselves on the impact of the initiative: At least three of the people on the Foreign Ministry’s list were, or became, top aides to Robert Malley, the Biden administration’s special envoy on Iran, who was placed on leave this June following the suspension of his security clearance. Poland Won’t Stand for Lectures on Ukraine . . . By Marek Magierowski, Poland’s ambassador to the U.S. On
Sept. 15, the Polish government extended its ban on the sale of Ukrainian grain within its borders. Five days later, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki remarked that Poland is “no longer transferring weapons to Ukraine because we are now arming ourselves with more modern weapons.” The response has been swift and merciless, with politicians and pundits describing Poland as two-faced, disloyal, pro-Russian and anti-Ukrainian. These claims are farcical and have served as a pretext to bash my country
for its apparent change of heart. President Volodymyr Zelensky even took such swipes at the United Nations General Assembly last week. Wall Street Journal

Inside the vast digital campaign by Hindu nationalists to inflame India . . . The BJP, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and affiliated Hindu nationalist groups have been in the global vanguard of using social media for political aims — to advance their ideology and cement their grip over the world’s largest electoral democracy. They have perfected the spread of inflammatory, often false and bigoted material on an industrial scale, earning both envy and condemnation
beyond India’s borders. Modi swept into power nearly a decade ago. Since then, he has repeatedly rallied voters in this vast democracy and entrenched his party’s power by exploiting differences between the Hindu majority and Muslim minority. Washington Post

‘Bidenomics’ fiscal shock: Managing America’s staggering debt . . . By Peter Navarro. The debate over a debt limit deal now raging in Congress offers the last possible exit ramp for future American prosperity. Absent significant spending cuts, “Bidenomics” will send America over a fiscal cliff while institutionalizing 1970s-style stagflation on steroids. America’s looming fiscal cliff is as unprecedented as it is
staggering. The legislation that most define Bidenomics — the American Rescue Plan, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and the (anything but) Inflation Reduction Act — are catalyzing the most rapid increase in America’s national debt ever witnessed in a peacetime economy. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the national debt will soar from $33 trillion today to $45 trillion in 2030. By 2050, the annual federal budget deficit will increase from 5% of gross domestic product in
2030 to a mind-bending 13%. Washington Times

number of problems with ICE’s oversight of transportation contracts led to $408,975 in “erroneous or unsupported” payments and $900,144 in expenditures that could have been put to better use, according to the report. The excessive spending is the result of ICE’s partial failure to follow federal guidelines for managing contracts and auditing expense. Daily Caller

of running modern monopolies that don’t fit within the confines of antiquated antitrust laws. Politico
