How Putin is using Biden to make Russia great again . . . Analysis. By Rebekah Koffler. The two-hour video tete-a-tete on Tuesday between President Biden and Russian strongman Vladimir Putin has predictably not borne fruit for America. Biden issued stern warnings about sanctions that were widely celebrated in the American press. But Putin was already well aware of these warnings. The session was, in fact, a hollow exercise in
showmanship. And Putin stole the show.
Instead of being a moment for projecting US resolve, the meeting was just another step in Biden’s ongoing, unintentional plan to help Putin make Russia great again by allowing the Russian president to reassert his influence over the nations of the former Soviet Union.
The mere act of Putin having a one-on-one meeting with the US president is a win for Moscow’s spymaster, who craves being perceived as a top dog in global geopolitics. It makes Russia seem on a par with the United States. The call was followed by a terrible blunder. Biden granted Moscow the guarantee that the US will not use force to stop Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. While using force against Russia is a bad idea with respect to Ukraine, which is not part of NATO or a critical US asset,
Biden abandoned a valuable tool, the principle of strategic ambiguity.
In the past year, Putin has “worked” Biden to convince him that Russia and America could be partners. The Kremlin, aided by the Russian press, showered Biden with sweet talk after the virtual meeting. The official statement by the Kremlin noted that “the two presidents reminisced about the alliance between the two countries during the Second World War” and “stressed that such an alliance must serve as an example for today’s framework for the Russo-US relationship and
collaboration.” Putin’s assistant, Yuri Ushakov, called the dialogue “candid and business-like” with “successful” exchanges of compliments and joking around.
As an intelligence operative, skilled at convincing foreign leaders that he has a soul, Putin is manipulating Biden to craft a US-Russian relationship on Moscow’s terms. And as the Biden presidency oversees a diminution of US power, Putin will continue his long-term project of reconstituting the Soviet empire, with Ukraine as the next step. New York Post
Biden Appoints a Racist U.S. Attorney . . .
Rachael Rollins is the latest in a series of soft-on-crime Soros-picked prosecutors trying to ruin our system of criminal justice. Thanks to Joe Biden, she’s your brand-new U.S. attorney for the state of Massachusetts. How did this happen? Ask Kamala Harris. Last Wednesday, not a single one of the 50 Republican senators voted to confirm Rollins, so the vice president came in and broke a 50-50 tie. The vote came Wednesday despite vocal opposition from Senate Minority Leader Mitch
McConnell, who urged his colleagues to deny Rollins’ nomination because of progressive policies she implemented as a district attorney. One of the hallmarks of her tenure in the role was not prosecuting some low-level crimes, in order to involve less people in the criminal justice system and divert resources to focus on serious crimes. Trump teases 2024 run during Orlando event with O'Reilly . . . At an event in Orlando on Sunday, former President Trump hinted that he may run for office again in 2024, an idea he has publicly teased for months now. "I said loud and clear,” the former president said, according to The Orlando Sentinel. “We won the first time, and the second time we won by even more. And it looks like we might have to think about very strongly a third
time.”
Though thousands of people gathered in the crowd, the turnout was less than expected for the event which is part of a four-city “History Tour” alongside former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly.
Trump's representatives had previously predicted the events would sell out, but on Sunday morning, tickets that were once valued at at least $100 had dropped to $40, the newspaper added. The Hill
Ron DeSantis fights back against Biden illegal immigrant flights:
Miranda Devine . . . Now that the City Council has generously granted noncitizens the vote, it should be obvious why President Biden has laid out the welcome mat to migrants at the southern border. Today’s illegal migrant is tomorrow’s Democratic voter, goes the calculus, and pesky formalities like citizenship just delay the glorious process. Fittingly, one of Mayor de Blasio’s last acts of vandalism against the city will be to sign this abomination into law. Cue Gov.
Ron DeSantis, who plans to deport illegal migrants flown secretly into Florida from the southern border by the Biden administration. Destination: Delaware, the president’s home state, or Martha’s Vineyard, Barack Obama’s holiday paradise. “If you sent [them] to Delaware or Martha’s Vineyard, that border would be secure the next day,” DeSantis said Friday.
To that end, he allocated $8 million in last week’s state budget to fly the migrants back to elite Democrat enclaves, including Washington, DC. New York Post
Pence fuels speculation of 2024 presidential bid . . . Former Vice President Mike Pence’s visit to New Hampshire last week and stops in other high-profile early primary states are fueling speculation about a potential 2024 presidential run — and questions about whether he can win over the GOP voters he angered on Jan. 6. In New Hampshire, Pence made a number of campaign-style stops, attending a fundraiser for Republican state Senate
candidates, meeting with local political activists and stopping by a local bakery. While the former vice president insists that he is laser-focused on bolstering support for Republican candidates running in 2022, New Hampshire is the latest early primary state he’s visited as he works to navigate political life after former President Trump. The Hill
Progressive lawmakers offer unwitting path for Jan. 6 prisoners to sue federal government . . . Some of the most progressive Democrats in Congress Reps. Hank Johnson (Ga.) and Jamie Raskin (Md.) on Wednesday reintroduced the Bivens Act, which would allow citizens to recover damages for constitutional violations committed against them by federal law enforcement officials. The bill, which the lawmakers first introduced last year, seeks "to
provide a civil remedy for an individual whose rights have been violated by a person acting under federal authority." It would do this by adding five words — "of the United States or" — to a longstanding provision enacted in 1871, known as Section 1983, which gives individuals the right to sue state or local officials who violate their civil and constitutional rights. The additional words would include federal officials in the statute. Just the News
On The Trail: Trump-inspired challengers target GOP governors . . . Former President Donald Trump has remade much of the Republican Party in his image by nurturing and promoting a coterie of bomb-throwing performance artists in the House and Senate more interested in owning the libs than advancing legislation. Now, his allies and imitators are coming for the ranks of Republican governors, a bevy of whom face MAGA-inspired challengers in
primary elections next year. The Hill
Latinos' rejection of reference term Latinx rattles the world of the woke . . . Woke speech codes suffered a major setback when some Hispanic lawmakers and the country’s oldest Hispanic rights group put the kibosh on the use of the transgender-friendly term “Latinx.” The rejection of the Latinx label even extended to prominent Democratic lawmakers.
“I’m Latina, you know. Latinx — that’s, bull——,” said Rep. Nydia M. Velazquez, a New York Democrat and the first Puerto Rican woman elected to the House. The League of United Latin American Citizens, the oldest Hispanic civil rights group in the U.S., also kicked Latinx to the curb. Domingo Garcia, the group’s president, told its communications team and board of directors last week to stop using the term in official communications. Mr. Garcia later described his ban as a death
knell for Latinx. Washington Times

SolarWinds hack one year later, cybersecurity experts say we’re no better off . . . It’s been one year since the U.S. government publicly acknowledged that SolarWinds, a widely used software in the public and private sector, had been hacked, compromising the data of thousands of users across the globe.
It was one of the worst data breaches in history. Now, one year later, what are businesses and the U.S. government doing to prevent a similar situation from happening again? When asked that question, cybersecurity experts who spoke with FOX Business were all unanimous in their answer: not a lot. Fox Business
Congress must do more to stop China’s military-industrial spying on US campuses . . . Editorial. Beijing exploits America’s top research universities to boost the Chinese military-industrial complex, and it needs to stop. A new report from the Foundation for Defense of Democracies details how China-sponsored Confucius Institutes at campuses across America facilitate Beijing’s espionage. In particular, research partnerships with
28 universities (including Stanford, Tufts and Texas A&M) boost Beijing’s military apparatus, including intelligence, nuclear weapons and cyberespionage platforms. New York Post
Israel fails in its bid to draw US backing for direct action against a nuclear-armed Iran . . . Israel’s big guns missed their aim this week in their highly publicized bid to extract from the Biden administration some support for military action against Iran should diplomacy fail. Following the letdown of the intensive talks Defense Minister Benny Gantz and Mossad Director David Barnea conducted with US security officials, Foreign Minister
Yair Lapid had a go with Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Friday, Dec 10. Any sort of sanctions relief, he argued, would offer Iran the gift of extra funding for its terrorist operations and missile development. This would in no time upset the balance of power in the region. Signifying that his argument was as ineffective as the points made by his colleagues to their US counterparts, a chastened Lapid said only that he had had “a good conversation” with the Secretary of State. This
rounded off a pretty fruitless week for Israel’s drive for support for a proactive policy against Iran. DEBKAFile
Jill Biden more political opportunist than wife . . . Opinion. By Cheryl Chumley. President Joe Biden has a problem forming complete sentences, has a challenge walking without assistance, has a difficulty stringing together thoughts that seem cohesive in the light of verbal day, and that often leave the listener in various states of wonder and perplexity — and those are his good days. But to his wife, Jill, that’s
“ridiculous.” Her powers of denial are great. Unfortunately, they’re not great enough to blind the rest of the world to the obvious. In a recent interview on “CBS Sunday Morning” in which she was asked to address concerns about her husband’s mental fitness and ability to lead, the first lady blithely dismissed, with a curt reply: “I think that’s ridiculous,” she said.
Only — it’s not.
Biden’s bumbling has become far too noticeable to disguise.
Here's what voters truly think. “Nearly Half of Voters Question Biden’s Mental Fitness, New Poll Finds,” National Review wrote just a few weeks ago. By the numbers, that Politico/Morning Consult survey found that 48 percent of voters expressed doubts about Biden’s mental capabilities. What’s more significant is that just a year earlier, almost two-thirds of voters believed Biden was mentally fit to lead. The more we see of Joe, the more we wonder: Is Joe really in there? Ukraine blames Germany for ‘blocking’ Nato weapons supply . . . Ukraine’s new defense minister has blamed Germany for blocking the supply of weaponry to Kyiv through Nato, despite US warnings of a possible imminent invasion by Russian forces. Oleksii Reznikov told the Financial Times that Berlin had in the past month vetoed Ukraine’s purchase of anti-drone rifles and anti-sniper systems via the Nato Support and
Procurement Agency. However, Germany had since relented on the first item, after deeming it non-lethal. “They are still building the Nord Stream 2 pipeline and at the same time blocking our defensive weapons. It is very unfair,” Reznikov said, referring to the Russian gas pipeline that runs through the Baltic Sea to Germany and bypasses existing supply routes through Ukraine. Financial Times
G7 warns Russia of ‘massive consequences’ if it attacks Ukraine . . . Russia will face “massive consequences and severe cost” if it pursues further military aggression against Ukraine, foreign ministers from the G7 group of democratic powers warned Sunday. The G7 countries are united in their “condemnation of Russia’s military build-up and aggressive rhetoric towards Ukraine,” ministers said in a statement following two days of talks in
the northern English city of Liverpool. “We call on Russia to de-escalate, pursue diplomatic channels, and abide by its international commitments on transparency of military activities,” reads the statement, on behalf of ministers from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. “Russia should be in no doubt that further military aggression against Ukraine would have massive consequences and severe cost in response.” The text does not clarify what
such consequences could entail, but Western leaders have spoken about economic sanctions on Russia and increased defense assistance to Ukraine, rather than a direct military response. PoliticoEU
Opinion | Vladimir Putin Shouldn’t Be a Right-Wing Hero . . . No CPAC invitation will be in the offing anytime soon, but Vladimir Putin has picked up admirers on the populist right in the United States and abroad that he doesn’t deserve.
With Putin threatening to invade Ukraine, the Russian dictator will again become a top-of-mind concern for the United States. In recent years, there’s been a reversal in which Democrats who were consistently soft on Russia from the Cold War to Hillary Clinton’s attempted reset have become, at least rhetorically and in theory, much tougher-minded about Moscow, while elements of the American right that once were the fiercest Cold Warriors have warmed up to Russia as Putin has grounded his
autocracy in religion and social conservatism. New York Post
In France, Criticism Grows Over U.S.-Inspired Activism on Race, Gender . . . Prominent French politicians and intellectuals say that the country faces a growing threat: U.S.-style activist movements that are foisting American multiculturalism and gender politics onto France. In recent months, President Emmanuel Macron, government ministers and other high-profile figures have said that activism on a range of issues—from gender-neutral
language to condemnation of French historical figures for racism and sexism—is threatening to cleave the republic along the lines of race, religion, gender and sexual orientation. To characterize the purported threat, some have adopted the English term “woke,” that was coined in the U.S. to describe a heightened awareness of racism and other prejudice. “We have to look at what’s weakening democracy, weakening the republic,” said Jean-Michel Blanquer, the French education minister.
“Woke-isme is clearly that." Wall Street Journal

4 States Call in National Guard to Deal With Health Care Staffing Crisis . . . At least four states in recent weeks have called in members of the National Guard to deal with health care staffing issues amid COVID-19 vaccine mandates for hospital and nursing home workers. Late last week, Indiana became the latest state to deploy the National Guard to hospitals. The Indiana Department of Health confirmed to local media
that Guard members were sent to 13 facilities after officials with Indiana University Health, the state’s largest hospital system, made the request. Indiana University officials said it’s dealing with “all-time highs” of both COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 patients. Earlier this year, about 125 Indiana University health care workers were fired for not complying with the system’s vaccine mandate, although the hospital said at the time that most fired workers were part-time. Harris announces new Central American investment as part of immigration effort . . . Pepsi, Cargill and several other companies will make new investments in Central America, Vice President Kamala Harris announced Monday, saying it was the latest success in her effort to try to create opportunities in those communities that might keep future would-be illegal immigrants at home. The seven new companies mark the second
round of commitments Ms. Harris has touted as part of her “Call to Action” in Central America. She said some of the earlier commitments, announced in May, are already showing results, including Microsoft, which has “catalyzed” broadband access to 1.1. million people, and development of clean energy. Nespresso has also promised to spend $150 million between now and 2025, for the first time buying its coffee from Honduras and El Salvador. Washington Times
European gas prices rise after German concerns over Nord Stream 2 . . . European gas futures rose 10 per cent on Monday hours after German foreign minister Annalena Baerbock said the Nord Stream 2 pipeline could not be permitted in its current form because it did not comply with EU law. Speaking on ZDF TV late on Sunday evening, Baerbock said the three parties that make up the new German government — Social Democrats, Greens and
Free Democrats — had agreed that all energy projects, including Nord Stream 2, must be in accordance with EU energy legislation. The pipeline was top of the list when US officials considered potential sanctions that western countries could threaten against Russia. Baerbock’s comments suggest that Germany’s position on Nord Stream 2 could harden now that the Greens, who have long opposed the project, are in charge of the foreign ministry. However, the Social Democrats, the party of
Chancellor Olaf Scholz, have traditionally supported the pipeline. Financial Times

Biden and Democrats lose grip on Latino and Hispanic voters . . . Democrats are losing their edge with Latino and Hispanic voters, and prominent members of the minority community are sounding the alarm to President Joe Biden and their Capitol Hill colleagues before next year's midterm cycle. Democrats no longer have an advantage with Latino and Hispanic voters when they were asked whether they would support their local Democratic or
Republican congressional candidate if the midterm elections were held today. Last year, more than 60% told pollsters they would cast a ballot for their House Democratic contender, researchers found. This month, 37% said they would make the same choice, while the same percentage would back the Republican. Roughly 1 in 5 remained undecided. Washington Examiner
Evangelical ministry asks Supreme Court to hear defamation case against Southern Poverty Law Center . . . An evangelical Christian ministry is asking the Supreme Court to take up its 4-year-old defamation lawsuit against the Southern Poverty Law Center, arguing that the “actual malice” standard established in the court’s landmark New York Times v. Sullivan case should be tossed.
D. James Kennedy Ministries, the namesake of the late pastor of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, sued the SPLC in 2017 after the Birmingham, Alabama-based organization designated the media ministry as a “hate group.”
The ministry says it is far from a hate group and preaches biblical messages, including the tenet that marriage was created to be between a man and a woman. Washington Times
Overwhelming Number of Diversity Officers at US Colleges Hold Anti-Israel Views, Study Says . . . An overwhelming number of diversity, equity, and inclusion officers at American universities, who are ostensibly hired to create a welcoming space on campus, use social media to bash Israel and Jews, according to a study. Researchers reviewed the Twitter feeds of 741 diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) officials at 65 different U.S.
universities to determine their attitudes on Israel and, for purposes of comparison, China. They found that DEI staff "tweeted, retweeted, or liked almost three times as many tweets about Israel as tweets about China." Of the tweets in question, 96 percent were critical of Israel, and 62 percent of the China-centered tweets were favorable. "The overwhelming pattern is that DEI staff at universities pay a disproportionately high amount of attention to Israel and nearly always attack Israel," the
study concludes. The study, Inclusion Delusion: The Antisemitism of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Staff at Universities, was released this week by the Heritage Foundation Washington Free Beacon

Biden Sends Two Guys Holding Horse Reins To Help Defend Ukraine Border . . . As Russia prepares to invade Ukraine, President Biden has responded decisively by sending a couple guys from the Texas border to beat back the advancing forces. "Putin, you're gonna be sorry," said Biden to a Russian nesting doll on his desk he mistook for Putin. "I'm sending my top two men—the horse whip guys—to stop you. Did you see what
they did to those Dominicans? You're in for it buddy! I'll bet you're scared now!"
The two Texas border guards were dropped into Ukrainian territory from a military aircraft along with their horses and legendary leather reins. After international outcry that the horse whip guys were being too rough on the Russian soldiers, Biden opted instead to let the Russians in and give them $450,000 instead. Babylon Bee
