Jindal: Obama remarks "shameful" . . . “I think it was completely shameful, that within 24 hours of this awful tragedy, nine people killed at a bible study at a church,” Jindal continued. “We have the president trying to score cheap political points. Let him have this debate next week. His job as commander in chief is to help the country begin the healing process.” Breitbart

Roof Confesses . . . Dylann Roof admits he did it, two law enforcement officials said -- shooting and killing nine people he'd sat with for Bible study at a historically black church in Charleston, South Carolina. But why? To start a race war, Roof told investigators, according to one of the officials.  CNN

Well, if the right people get their way, he may yet succeed.

Roof: A loner drawn to white supremacy . . . His uncle worried he was cooped up in his room too much. The few images of him found easily online suggest he had a fascination with white supremacy, publicly embracing its symbols. And for his birthday this year, his father bought the young man a pistol, the uncle said. Reuters

He is charged Friday morning with nine counts of murder.

Florists' tips led to arrest . . . Debbie Dills was running behind Thursday on her way into work at Frady’s Florist in Kings Mountain. It was God’s way of putting her in the right place at the right time, the Gastonia woman said. Dills and her boss, Todd Frady, made the initial calls around 10:35 a.m. that led to the arrest of suspected Charleston church shooter Dylann Roof in Shelby, North Carolina. Shelby Star

Remembering the victims . . . All her life, Sharonda Coleman-Singleton pressed toward a goal. On a New Jersey high school track, she chased the finish so well that she sprinted her way to an athletic scholarship to South Carolina State University. As a speech pathologist, she pursued higher academic degrees to better help those who came to her wanting to be heard. But few things motivated the 45-year-old mother of three more than answering the upper calling to spread the gospel. Washington Post

Democrats moving even further to the Left . . . Democrats have shifted increasingly more liberal over the past 15 years, a Gallup poll released Thursday finds. The poll finds that 47 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents identify as both socially liberal and economically moderate or liberal, an eight-point increase from 2008 and 17-point increase since 2001. House approves fast track . . . The House on Thursday took the first step toward resuscitating the White House’s trade agenda by passing legislation granting President Obama fast-track authority. The bill now goes to the Senate, where the White House and GOP leaders are seeking to strike a deal with pro-trade Democrats. The House vote was 218-208, with 28 Democrats voting for it. The Hill

Congressman: Drudge killed the trade bill . . . Illinois Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger this week blamed the Drudge Report and other conservative websites for distorting information about trade legislation, including Trade Promotion Authority, Trade Adjustment Assistance and the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the massive trade deal that has yet to be finalized. Politico

Pope's message roils the political world . . . Pope Francis’ stunning encyclical calling for a massive upheaval of the world economy to combat global warming provided fuel for President Obama and climate change activists but posed a tougher challenge for Catholic politicians who were left to grapple with the pontiff’s stern call to arms.
