The Right Stuff In The Morning

Monday, March 15, 2015

Good morning! In the news today: Months-long gaps in Hillary's emails, including key dates; Congress throws in the towel on immigration; Obamas spend tens of millions on vacations; Iran deal likely, but past deadline; Obama reportedly wants nuclear umbrella for Arab states; and Fox is the most trusted news network.

Have a great day.

Keith

Months of Hillary emails missing . . . Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), the chairman of the House select committee investigating Benghazi, said that there is a period of missing Hillary Clinton emails from her time as secretary of State spanning several months. "There are gaps of months, and months and months," Gowdy said Sunday on CBS's Face the Nation. "If you think to that iconic picture of her on a C-17 flying to Libya – she has sunglasses on and she has her handheld device in her hand – we have no emails from that day. In fact, we have no emails from that trip," Gowdy said. The Hill

Massive amounts of data have been hidden. And that means this scandal will continue for a very long time. Even, possibly, after the press tires of it. So buckle up!

Feinstein to Hillary: Come clean . . . The top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee urged former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to give a full explanation of why she used a private e-mail account for all her official correspondence during her four years as America's top diplomat. Obama: Just hearing now about that Clinton email thing . . . President Obama says he first learned from news reports that his former secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, used a private email account during her tenure, amid reports the White House and State Department may have known as far back as last August that Clinton did not use government email. Fox News

Obama to Ferguson: Accept the DOJ findings or else . . . Following the Justice Department’s report charging the Ferguson police department with racial bias and abusive practices, President Obama Friday interjected himself into the case, strong-arming the city with the power of his office. White House Dossier

Obama suggests racism informs opposition to "Dreamers" . . . Obama says support for deporting adult illegal immigrants brought to the United States as children violated the “spirit” of Selma. White House Dossier

Obamas spend Tens of millions on vacations . . . The first family, Michelle Obama fresh from her annual Aspen ski vacation with her daughters, and President Obama back from a weekend of golf in sunny Palm Springs, Calif., have spent tens of millions in tax dollars to vacation, and they still have two more years to go, according to an accounting of their trips. Washington Examiner

New White House Mideast guru raises concerns . . . National Security Adviser Susan Rice on Friday named as head of her Mideast desk an official who has stoked controversy with past criticisms of Israel and by meeting with Hamas terrorists. CNS News

Iran deal likely, but not by deadline . . . Negotiators trying to strike a nuclear deal with Iran believe they may soon reach a framework agreement — but probably not before a March 24 deadline for Congressional action that threatens to blow up the talks. Politico

Iran using sanctions relief to undermine U.S. interests . . . Iran is on a roll in the Middle East, becoming a dominant military player in Iraq, rescuing the regime of Bashar Assad in Syria, bringing down a U.S. ally in Yemen and building its surrogate Hezbollah terrorist army into a political force in Lebanon and throughout the region. Washington Times

Iran is our strategic enemy. If only someone would tell the president.

Is the Iran bomb now unstoppable? . . . Nuclear Iran. Learn to love it! Retired Army Major General Bob Scales, a Fox News analyst, had some sobering words for host Neil Cavuto: It’s over. Forget it. Iran will have its bomb. White House Dossier

Republicans warn Iranians deal is for two years . . . A group of 47 Republican senators has written an open letter to Iran's leaders warning them that any nuclear deal they sign with President Barack Obama's administration won’t last after Obama leaves office. Bloomberg

Islamic State may be fraying from within . . . Reports of rising tensions between foreign and local fighters, aggressive and increasingly unsuccessful attempts to recruit local citizens for the front lines, and a growing incidence of guerrilla attacks against Islamic State targets suggest the militants are struggling to sustain their carefully cultivated image as a fearsome fighting force drawing Muslims together under the umbrella of a utopian Islamic state. Washington Post

GOP 2016 hopefuls steer clear of Selma . . . What saved the dearth of Republicans in Selma from suggesting that Richard Nixon’s “Southern Strategy” was still alive was the presence of former President George W. Bush, former first lady Laura Bush, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (in a last-minute change of mind), and Sen. Rob Portman, a member of the Senate Republican leadership. Washington Times

Shameless Clinton spinner gets his comeuppance . . . Hillary Clinton is blameless when it comes to her email? Try saying that to “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace and you’ll quickly get slapped down. The Blaze

Lanny Davis hasn't shut up since Monica, and won't ever shut up.

Liberal MSNBC host: Hillary set up emails to defy FOIA . . . Liberal MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell cut straight to the chase, succinctly demonstrating why both liberals – at least those who can wash the politics out of their hair for a moment – and conservatives alike are aghast at Hillary Clinton’s attempt to hide her emails from the public. White House Dossier

Hillary demands equality for women . . . Hillary Clinton, a likely U.S. presidential candidate, is urging the world to take action and address "the great unfinished business of the 21st century" — the achievement of equality for women that 189 nations called for at a groundbreaking U.N. conference 20 years ago. Associated Press

This is how she will make something stale - i.e. Hillary Clinton - fresh: Make her campaign about finishing the struggle for women's rights.

Jeb is neither George nor George . . . In Republican Jeb Bush, Americans are seeing a different sort of Bush on their TV screens: a policy wonk who wears horn-rimmed glasses and has neither his brother's famous Texas swagger nor his father's patrician air. Reuters

Christie Chrisis . . . Can you feel the momentum? Neither can Chris Christie. Bloomberg

Netanyahu troubled by reports of U.S. nuclear umbrella . . . The Jerusalem Post and Arabic-language newspaper Al-Hayat reported last week that Obama administration is ready to ease concerns over the Iranian nuclear threat by offering the Gulf States a “nuclear umbrella” — a declaration that any use of nuclear weapons against them would be considered use against the U.S. as is now policy for such major military allies as NATO, Japan and South Korea. Washington Times

The new reality: "Containment" of Iran.

Netanyahu: no land for Palestinians in current climate . . . "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that any evacuated territory would fall into the hands of Islamic extremism and terror organizations supported by Iran. Therefore, there will be no concessions and no withdrawals. It is simply irrelevant," read a statement released by his Likud party. Associated Press

Sounds like clear thinking to me.

MLK Lieutenant insulted by Bush participation at Selma . . . “I think the Selma movement was about nonviolence and peace and democracy, and George Bush stands for just the opposite — for violence and war and stolen elections,” she added. “And George Bush’s administration had people tortured, so I thought that this was not an appropriate event for him.” The Blaze
