Monday, May 11, 2015 Good morning! In the news today: Lookout: terrorism goes viral; ISIS may soon try a 9/11; four Gulf states refuse to be coddled by Obama on Iran deal; Bill bagged $200K from China amid Asia pivot; Marco Rubio's sugar daddy; Forty percent of those on food stamps are obese; and why you need another cup of coffee. Have a great day. Keith
Terrorism has gone viral . . . Top U.S. officials and lawmakers on Sunday intensified concerns about the growing threat of jihad-inspired terror attacks against the United States,
after last week’s attempt in Texas and the dire FBI warning that followed. “I think there’s been an uptick in the stream of threats out there,” Texas GOP Rep. Mike McCaul, chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, told “Fox News Sunday.” “We’re seeing these directives on almost a daily basis. It’s very concerning. Terrorism has gone viral.” Fox News McCaul: "Within the Department of Homeland Security, more money, in fact, millions of dollars, are dedicated to climate change rather than combating what
I consider to be one of the biggest threats to the homeland, and that's the violent extremists radicalizing Islamist terrorists -- radicalizing over the Internet, in the United States of America."

Gulf states skipping Obama hand holding session . . . The White House was scrambling Monday to put a positive face on an upcoming summit of Persian Gulf states after learning leaders
from four of the six invited nations are expected to skip. Fox News They fully understand that the
Obama-Kerry deal is a capitulation to Iran and they realize the grave threat it poses to their countries. Obama slammed for self-indulgent Kenya trip . . . One of the nation’s leading Africanists is assailing President Obama’s upcoming July trip to Kenya as a “dumb idea” that will confer legitimacy on its corrupt leadership, stoke divisions within the country, and
unnecessarily endanger his own life. White House Dossier Bill scored China payday amid Asia pivot . .
. Former President Bill Clinton bagged a $200,000 speaking fee on October 21, 2011, paid for by Chinese government entities just ten days after then-Sec. of State Hillary Clinton heralded a “pivot to Asia” in U.S. policy. Breitbart Obama runs from Hillary . . . Conventional political wisdom said Hillary Rodham Clinton would run away from
President Obama’s record, but instead it’s the White House incumbent who in recent weeks has put real distance between himself and his potential successor. Washington Times Obama Schedule || Monday, May 11, 2015

Morell: ISIS' next test could be a 9/11-style attack . . . The Islamic State simply inspired the deadly assault by two men on an exhibit of cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed
near Dallas last week, CIA veteran Michael Morell says. But it's only a matter of time before the jihadist group is likely to be in a position to direct more elaborate attacks on American soil that could result in mass casualties. USA Today Maher: Stop the excuses for Muslim extremists . . . HBO “Real Time” host Bill Maher blasted liberals on Friday for making excuses for Islamic extremists, saying he was disturbed by the “soft bigotry of low expectations.” Mr. Maher called the Garland contest sponsor, Pamella Geller, a “loon” and admitted
that the competition was “obviously a provocation,” but added, “This is America. Do we not have the right to draw whatever we want?” Washington

Cruz asked to prove he's authentically Latino . . . Bloomberg’s Mark Halperin recently had a list of condescending questions for Sen. Ted Cruz, a typical journalism “gotcha” scam
designed to hopefully come up with some hell-raising gaffe that will destroy a politician and elevate an oh-so-clever-clever reporter. Among Halperin’s probing questions: “You got a favorite Cuban food, Cuban dish?” “You have a favorite Cuban singer?” White House Dossier Marco Rubio's sugar daddy . . . The New York Times this weekend did a piece on Sen. Marco Rubio’s father-son, benefactor-beneciary relationship with a billionaire auto dealer named Norman Braman. "He has bankrolled Mr. Rubio’s campaigns. He has financed Mr. Rubio’s legislative agenda. And, at the
same time, he has subsidized Mr. Rubio’s personal finances, as the rising politician and his wife grappled with heavy debt and big swings in their income." White House Dossier Jeb: I would have authorized the 2003 Iraq invasion . . . “I would have [authorized the invasion], and so would have Hillary Clinton, just to remind everybody. And so would almost everybody that was confronted with the intelligence they got,” Bush said. Fox News Hillary's conundrum: What to do with Bill? . . . Bill Clinton is a political animal who logged 168,000 miles on the campaign trail in 2014.
Yet senior aides say he does not plan to do any campaign activities for his wife in 2015, including fundraisers for her campaign or allied super PACs. He has said privately that she should lead the campaign on her own, aides said. Washington Post Inside the "Clinton Cash" war room . . . How Hillary’s team worked furiously to attack, undermine
and debunk the book that threatened to disrupt her campaign. Politico Trump for real this time? . . . The bottom line is, by the various measurements journalists use to evaluate campaigns — crowds, staff, money, candidate time on the ground — if the Trump campaign were being conducted by anyone else, journalists would take it quite seriously. Washington Examiner Carson gets tax idea from the Bible . . . "I like the idea of a proportional tax — that way you pay according to your ability," said retired pediatric neurosurgeon and Republican candidate for president Dr. Ben Carson. "I got that idea quite frankly
from the Bible." Washington Examiner Fiorina pulls one on Chuck Todd . .
. Fiorina defended her record and after the interview sent a tweet thanking Todd for having her on the show and saying, "Btw, checkout chucktodd.org." Her campaign had registered that domain and clicking on the link redirected traffic to her official campaign site, carlyforpresidentdotcom. Reuters Why on earth wouldn't he have bothered to register that?

Forty percent of Americans on food stamps are obese . . . A new study from the U.S. Department of Agriculture finds that Americans receiving food stamps are more likely to be
overweight and obese than those who do not receive assistance. Daily Caller Pampered college kids get hungry, end hunger strike . . . A group of students at Tufts University ended a hunger strike on Saturday on behalf of 20 janitors laid off by the administration. The hunger strike, which began last weekend, went on for about a week. The students involved ended the stunt out of concerns for their own health. The custodians remain laid off. Daily Caller Video || SNL's "draw Muhammed" contest This was pretty funny. And SNL is being feted for "going there." But they still
didn't draw Muhammed. Four arrested in murders of two Mississippi cops . . . Mississippi’s governor says his state is in “mourning” Sunday after the shooting deaths of two police officers Saturday night during a traffic stop in Hattiesburg. Officer Benjamin Deen, 34, had stopped a 2000 Gold Cadillac Escalade in an industrial part of the city at around 8:30 p.m. local time
Saturday. Officer Liquori Tate, 25, arrived afterward to assist him, shots were fired, and both officers were wounded. Fox News Drink more coffee, die another day . . . There have been two meta-analyses published within the last year or so. The first reviewed 20 studies, including almost a million people, and the second included 17 studies containing more than a million people. Both found that drinking coffee was associated with a significantly reduced chance of death. I can’t think of any other product that has this much
positive epidemiologic evidence going for it. Aaron Carroll in the New York Times
