Woodward: Unanswered questions on IRS . . . Bob Woodward says there are "lots of unanswered questions" in the IRS targeting scandal, and if he were a young reporter he'd take former reporting partner Carl Bernstein to Cincinnati to start interviewing people. "Now, there's been political spin put on it by lots of people, including Fox News, including the White House. Question is: What are the facts? What really happened?" Woodward said in an interview aired Sunday on Fox News Channel's "MediaBuzz." Newsmax

Where have the Woodward and Bernsteins been with respect to all the Obama scandals? If it were Bush, there would teams of reporters doing nothing but digging up dirt.

No WH strategy to country ISIS propaganda in U.S. . . . Always a day late and a buck short with this White House. And the buck is always getting passed to someone else.Once again, the president who promised to fundamentally transform America into a land more reliant than ever on government has done more than any previous president to prove government’s shortcomings. BOOK OF THE WEEK: "Now that she’s no longer on the CBS payroll, this pit bull is off the leash and tearing flesh off the behinds of senior media and government officials," the NY Post writes. "In her new memoir/exposé “Stonewalled: My Fight for Truth Against the Forces of Obstruction, Intimidation, and Harassment in Obama’s Washington" Attkisson unloads on her colleagues in big-time TV news for their cowardice and cheerleading for the Obama administration while unmasking the corruption, misdirection and outright lying of today’s Washington political machine."

Bush clan readies for a likely run . . . As Jeb Bush nears a decision to become the third member of his storied family to seek the presidency, the extended Bush clan and its attendant network, albeit with one prominent exception, are largely rallying behind the prospect and pulling the old machine out of the closet. Barbara Bush, the former first lady and Jeb Bush’s mother, is unconvinced, according to people close to the family, but has been persuaded to stop saying it so publicly.

As for George W., he has not been especially close to Jeb, who is seven years younger. By all accounts, the former president is closer to their younger brother, Marvin, who visited him in the White House or at Camp David regularly. But George W. has become an outspoken advocate of a White House bid by Jeb. “The one person who is really, really trying to get Jeb to run is George W.,” said the family insider. “He’s talking it up all the time.” New York Times

George P.: Dad "moving forward" on 2016 . . .  Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is "moving forward" on a potential 2016 White House run and it appears more likely he will enter the Republican field, according to his son, who's running for office in Texas. Associated Press

GOP targets more House seats . . . In a late move to bolster their advantage, Republicans and their allies are investing in additional House races that they now see as in play, a sign that the political climate is tilting toward the GOP ahead of next week’s elections. The last-minute maneuvering has the potential, if races break their way, to bring Republicans closer to the 12-seat gain needed to match the party’s post-World War II record of holding 246 House seats. Wall Street Journal

Polls give GOP edge in key Senate battles . . . Republicans are on the precipice of taking control of the Senate for the first time in eight years, new NBC News/Marist polls released Sunday show, but the GOP has yet to lock up many of the key battleground races.
The surveys show the Republican candidate with slight, inside-the-margin advantages in three of the hardest-fought contests for Democratic-held seats: Arkansas, Colorado and Iowa. North Carolina is a dead heat. Republicans’ brief scare in South Dakota appears to be over, with Mike Rounds now leading by double digits. But the party still faces danger in Kansas, where an independent candidate is in a virtual tie with the GOP incumbent. Politico

GOP digital revamp sees mixed results . . . Republicans have made significant progress in many areas, but recent conversations with insiders on both sides of the aisle reveal that Republicans still face major structural challenges in the digital arena that will take time – in some cases, years – to overcome. The sharing agreement between the RNC and the Kochs was not easy to arrange. Yahoo News

There should not be problems with this, but it seems there are. Nothing could have been more important to the GOP than matching the Democrats' technology edge.

Cruz, Huckabee on a collision course . . . Social conservatives are desperate to settle on a single candidate earlier than ever to avoid another "moderate" as the GOP nominee. National Journal

DWS: GOP scarier than ISIS or Ebola . . . Appearing on CNN’s “State Of The Union,” Democratic National Committee Chairwoman, Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, agreed that the GOP is scarier that either Ebola or the terrorist organization ISIS. Daily Caller

NY eases quarantine under White House pressure . . . New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced late Sunday that he had loosened some of the restrictions in a mandatory 21-day Ebola quarantine that he had ordered along with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie this past Friday. The new guidelines come after White House officials and health experts strongly criticized the mandatory quarantine, which was put in place in response to the infection of a New York City doctor, Craig Spencer. Fox News

The official said the administration is working to develop guidelines that will protect Americans and enable workers to tackle the epidemic in West Africa. The Hill

Obama leaving Afghan fight to incompetents . . . Elite Army Green Berets are knocking the performance of the Afghan National Army, telling war tales of its soldiers hiding and quitting the fight. The Green Beret criticisms, contained in a U.S. Central Command “friendly fire” investigative file, provide a window into the flaws of a national army more than a decade in the making. Brazilian leftist Rousseff reelected . . .  Despite opposition from nearly half of Brazil's voters, leftist President Dilma Rousseff won re-election on Sunday and will have another four years to try to revive growth in a once-booming economy gone stagnant. Jimmy Carter: Leave gay marriage to the states . . . "I'm kind of inclined to let the states decide individually," Carter told WFAA-TV in Dallas-Fort Worth in an interview aired Sunday. "As you see, more and more states are deciding on gay marriage every year. If Texas doesn't want to have gay marriage, then I think that's a right for Texas people to decide," Carter said. Newsmax

Federally funded project monitored conservatives . . . The National Science Foundation (NSF) project designed to track “misinformation” on Twitter has removed portions of its website that monitored political users, including conservatives who used the “tcot” hashtag. “Truthy,” the nearly $1 million research project being conducted by the University of Indiana, has redesigned its website. The service is intended to monitor “suspicious memes” and “false and misleading ideas,” with a major focus on political activity online. Washington Free Beacon

Schlafly: Immigration killing the family . . . Phyllis Schlafly has noticed a disturbing trend among immigrants from Latin American countries that further erodes the traditional family unit. “They try to tell you they’re very pro-family, but they have a tremendously high illegitimacy rate,” she said. According to the author, this illegitimacy rate leads many to depend on the government for their needs, rather than the family. This makes for weak families in Schlafly’s opinion and diminishes the core values that underlie America. Daily Caller

Tufts hosting Islamists to train for "direct action" . . . A controversial Islamist group will gather at Tufts University on Friday for a weekend-long conference that will include training students to take “direct action” against pro-Israel and Jewish students on U.S. campuses, according to a schedule of the conference obtained by the Free Beacon. The event, held by Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), which is run by the American Muslims for Palestine, has raised concerns among students who feel threatened by the group’s highly aggressive—and sometimes violent—tactics.
